If possible there’s also a point and click game adaptation of it that’s f***ing bananas.

Written by the original author decades after the short story, feels like an expansion of his original intent, really interesting game

The programming it can do is pretty crazy lol

Ik a lawyer her job is basically reading patents or learning about intellectual property and making contracts, giving advice in disputes etc

Like not all of that will be automated but I'm pretty sure most of it can be

I've been using it to write copy for me and even do some very basic wireframes for marketing landing pages. It ain't safe out here.

Yea, it does have some strong limitations currently, but what people don't realize is soon there will likely be models that can interact with data without explicitly being told what to do, like a human

If/when that happens, and these machines are able to learn like we do like reinforcement learning, I think everything will change.

well we left it on a crumbling earth depleted of resources and the sun will explode anyway so like

Tfw robots build a new sun as we toil in the rubble hunting for rare earth metals

Yea I feel like a good amount of those could go away and be replaced with like a “prompt engineer” or some s*** like that lol

Well some of the smartest peopleon Earth are currently addressing the human alignment problem, so there's little value in contemplating it from the perspective of limited understanding of the subject.
I'd say unless you personally trained a LLM and got a solid understanding of its capabilities and its growth potential, just sit this one out and consider following qualified experts on twitter.

Autonomous agents are already a thing. you basically plant a seed (the initial prompt) and watch it do its own thing, including prompting itself further
Which is to say that "prompt engineering" or whatever cope term people came up with will soon be a useless skill to have

That doesn’t mKe sense lol, no matter high the abstraction level gets, there is always going to have to be someone inputting a prompt and guiding it towards the result they want

I mean ur kinda right because no one here knows that s*** like some openai engineer does but some of us do understand a lot about how machine learning works

The fact is until ai can find and interpret data like humans do it won't be able to replace us for most tasks

I do agree that this kind of cyclical prompting will be useful for advanced ai but I think the bigger task is making ai that accurately interacts with software environments, like computers in video games except they would be way more versatile

  • Apr 19, 2023

I mean it’s gonna change a lot and it will definitely cost people some jobs, as every step into automation does. It will affect our ability to tell real from fake in terms of visual and audible recordings, but I don’t think that’s all bad tbh.

what about it do you think will lead to our destruction?

Climate change and pollution will take us out anyway so not too worried

Genuinely though if I knew that we’d survive like another 65 million years I’d be bothered but in these circumstances?
