It was just a terrible time for him to drop tbh I still think the hate was very unwarranted and MOTM may not be the best but it has a lot of gems on it. People just didn’t like the rollout and decided to throw make political excuses as to why they didn’t want to tune in lol

Nobody gave two s***s about the Janet Super Bowl thing in 04 but decided to in 2018 which was wild. But Twitter ran with it and as a result he’s had backlash

    WESLEY THE GREAT

It was a combination of people finally giving a s*** about the Janet Jackson Superbowl incident on Twitter (because he was returning for the superbowl halftime show by himself in 2018), and the music being NOT GOOD. Or atleast not as good as Justified, F/S & 2020 Pt. 1.

true, people started to become more conscious and critical. the entire MeToo movement and all happened between 20/20 experience (back when he was able to rule the pop landcape) and MotW (when was only a clown)

bro it's just a bad song.

I honestly enjoy it but i'm also thinking like 'damn it's actually not working that well is it' like I'm conflicted. it's just all so sad to witness, why doesn't he take better care of his brand..?

tbh he did have braids and all

it’s just the factor that he looked like that and but then he did janet dirty and was like yeah im not taking the fall for her

    ig? what you think @DonutHole

2000s pop music whole mo was to appropriate rnb ( black American music) and jt fit right in...

Timberlake’s first two albums turned him into an international star, but his liberal borrowing of black music and aesthetics earned him the designation of a “culture vulture” from his detractors. This criticism persisted on 2013’s two-part The 20/20 Experience, which further mined R&B and neo-soul and featured production from Timbaland.
Source:Justin Timberlake’s Return To R&B And Funk Is Depressingly Predictable

He did Janet extremely dirty, idk why people are still confused about this??? She said it herself

Then tried to beef with prince and disrespected him after death by projecting his image during his superbowl performance (prince beliefs were totally against that type of stuff, holograms etc after his death)

    /w_1542,h_1028,c_limit/Prince-Justin-Timberlake-Tribute.jpg

He really tried to beef with prince... whilst jacking a lane prince opened doors for...

This was more of a back-and-forth lyrical diss. During a 2006 post-Emmy Awards party, Prince reportedly said, in reference to Timberlake’s 2006 hit, SexyBack: “For whoever is claiming that they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left!” During “Give It to Me,” Timberlake retorted with, “We missed you on the charts last week. Damn, that’s right, you wasn’t there. Now if se-sexy never left, then why is everybody on my shi-i-it? Don’t hate on me just because you didn’t come up with it.”

As Genius pointed out, Timberlake also made fun of Prince’s 5’3 height at the 2007 Golden Globes, when Prince won for “The Song of the Heart” from Happy Feet. Prince was not at the ceremony, so Timberlake, who presented the award, ducked down to a low stance at the microphone and accepted the Globe on his behalf.

In conclusion: Justin Timberlake been a b****.

But on a serious note the album was not good to me at all, I only liked Wave and Montana.

I didn’t really like Part 2 of 20/20 that much either, idk what but his music has lost a lot of it’s spark for me but his first 3 albums are great, his first 2 are classics.

I can see why the public wasn't here for Filthy. It was just a misguided rollout. Honestly JT's team didn't read the room while managing the album campaign. Also the fact that it ended right after the super bowl, with no more single or any event..just so disappointing. I was so let down as a fan that year.

-Justin not having Janet's back when the heat was on her, Justin gets to perform at the Super Bowl again and Janet will likely never be allowed to perform on that stage again

-The Jesse Williams awards speech tweet that came off as All Lives Matters to people
-Beefing with Prince while he was alive and having an album release party at Prince's estate and using Prince in his Super Bowl performance
-The rollout making it look like Justin was dropping a country album. People already feel like he used black music to get hot as a solo act so it came off like Miley abandoning rap culture to social media
-His music was already on the decline post the first part of The 20/20 Experience

It was a storm that all came together complete with the album being a dud

    ^^^^^

he proved that he can adapt his sound really well. he produced SZA's Hit Different. but this brief phase of his fart 808s and clicky synths was terrible and sadly JT's entire album was full of that sound. It just wasn't dance-able or groovy, it was just gross

I said that too that year. He's not the first artist who started to fall off once he became a father. Justin was so much better when he was just a bachelor dating hot girls.

His last album was meh, people were just super disappointed in the direction he headed with country-style music and all, not to mention the ALM incident on Twitter. Sucks that everyone forgot about him afterwards, hope he'll come back with a solid record in the future.

“oh sweet soul” mf get your sassy condescending ass outta here

He's disgusting fr and really disingenuous

He really said "the more you realize we're the same"

After having made a song alledgedly about interracial relationships called that girl in which he songs about not caring what the world thinks via he loves that girl over a 60 soul/rnb sound...

He was alledgedly inspired by a movie about ir relationship "guess who's coming to dinner"

How we all "the same" but you singing about not caring that y'all (the coupe) not "the same" ???? 💀

    Here's the song btw

we not giving that bozo any streams nor ad revenue.
