I was VERY surprised by this. I had little to no expectations after all of the controversy, but it was solid. The immersion was excellent.
What was the controversy?
why do people become such nerds over this s***
Hope you’re not asking why people get angry seeing bright phone screens recording during a movie
They saying this better than gladiator 2
By a considerable margin
why do people become such nerds over this s***
I’ve thrown someone’s phone in a theater before. Grow the f*** up people
why do people become such nerds over this s***
Hilarious that we are supposed to believe this person was "mesmerized" by a performance while also recording it on their phone lmfao
Honestly if you take your phone out during a movie for any reason you're just a really s***ty person. And you're not a s***ty person because you took your phone out during a movie, but it's largely indicative of a personality style that just screams entitled a****** who believes the rules either don't exist or don't apply to them. Have some respect for the other patrons. I've seen a bunch of clowns defending it too by saying things like "well she paid for her ticket so she can do what she wants," to which I would rebut that everyone else paid for the right not to have to put up with that garbage
They chose to go against Gladiator instead
I'm not trying to be disrespectful but she looks off
Shout-out to the makeup/hairstyling man, almost cringed when I saw that Cynthia's hair wasn't a wig, I know a whole head of micro braids/locs took f***ing FOR. EVER. GREEN SCALP TOO
I wasn’t familiar with Ariana’s acting game like that
I am very much pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed Wicked. The Wizard of Oz is a timeless tale that has been hard to replicate the magic of for almost 100 years. I feel that Wicked comes close and re-contextualizes the whole story. I’ve never seen the musical so the majority of the beats were new to me, but expected of course.
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are magic on the screen. Cynthia brings power to Elphaba and Ariana has some incredible comedic timing as Glinda. Vocally they are both incredible as well. “Defying Gravity” actually got me a little emotional, something I never expected. Through that sequence, Jon Chu is able to communicate such power on the screen. This film levels him up as a filmmaker in my eyes.
One thing I also really liked is how the way the move flowed was just like a stage musical. It added an extra sense of flare to it.
Overall, I very much enjoyed Wicked. After this, Part 2 has become one of my most anticipated films of next year.
They were playing a “wicked” song someone said, to which I replied please that’s from a Kanye studio sesh
so if you care to find me
look to the western sky
as someone told me lately
"everyone deserves the chance to fly"
and if I'm flying solo
at least I'm flying free
to those who ground me
take a message back from me
tell them how i am defying gravity
