Mbdtf is dope but it’s so overrated at the same time

I won't lie, it's pretty overrated a lot by a insane amount of Ye stans, but it deserves 10/10 tho.

It sold more than HIStory during the same timeframe so Idk what you mean

The majority of 25's sales came in its first two years, it simply doesn't have the sustained longevity to reach the sales of Dangerous, Bad or Thriller. I could see 21 reaching 50 million after another 15-20 years but not 25.

because Adele doesn't have a cult of personality

For perspective in the most famous figures that ever existed

    it probably goes something like

Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, ... MJ literally ...

Really don't see an artist ever replicating that

Honestly I think fans were lowkey disappointed in 25, that sounds crazy cause it sold like hotcakes at the time but it still didn't have the hits(outside of Hello) or the longevity of 21

Thriller even ppl who don’t own it or heard the album from start to finish knows all the songs because it was that of an impact in the landscape of pop culture

Every songs are a hit in one way or another even if not released as a single or with video: they are all celebrated, covered, used in media, sampled etc, literally every single song from it, anyway you want it, it has been done

The Drake double album if you haven’t listened to it you’ll know like 3 songs from it max

Even RAM by DP that won Grammy, rebooted careers and relaunched Disco into pop culture (everyone started making retro or disco songs after that) and itself paid tribute to Thriller lol ppl still could only name some 2 songs out of it

I can’t stress enough the context of how Thriller nuked everything like no one else

Death and controversy boost MJs sales

Things happen that could spike her sales so who knows

But she has the best chance

I hate how people try to compare artists success today to MJ’s
You can literally buy/stream an album as soon as it’s released, back then there was lines you had to stand in, and s*** would even sell out at stores

No u can’t make an album off pure record sales anymore, streaming will never compare

I just googled the best selling album ever and found this

    The Eagles
The Eagles' 'Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975)', which was originally released in 1976, has been confirmed to be the best-selling album of all-time in the US, with the Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA) reporting sales of 38 million copies. 'Thriller', meanwhile, is five million behind at 33 million copies.Aug 20, 2018
    NME.com › News › Music News
Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' is no longer the best-selling album of all time in the US

Before my time but I think they were the Hotel California guys

The album by The Eagles is a double album, meaning every sale is counted twice. This largely inflates the sales, but in actually more people went out and bought Thriller. This is also only in the US, worldwide, Thriller is still the king.
