The movie will be helmed by Antoine Fuqua with William N. Collage writing the script.
Smith will play Peter, a slave who fled a plantation in Louisiana after he was whipped within an inch of his life. He had to outwit cold-blooded hunters and the unforgiving swamps of Louisiana on a torturous journey North. There, he joined the Union Army. The thriller is based on his true story, seared into the annals of history by an indelible image; when Peter showed his bare back during an Army medical examination, photos were taken of the scars from a whipping delivered by an overseer on the plantation owned by John and Bridget Lyons that nearly killed him
Written by the same dude who wrote "assassins creed".. yeah aight
Deadass fell asleep on AC, not even 30min in
@bob I read it's because at the time django wasn't the main character and he wanted to be the lead
Will needs a hit to solidify his legacy
10 years without a good movie :/
His 2000s run is legendary tho
Ain't trying to see no slavery movie unless it's about John Brown.
John Brown movie would go so hard
Will is already a certified GOAT... but he deadass can't be trusted anymore. He needs to switch something up quick. He aint the guy he thinks he is/used to be.

He really hasn’t been since the early 2000s
His entire reputation was thanks to Fresh Prince, the Bad Boys movies, Independence Day, and Men in Black 1
His best movie is obviously Ali and if it had been a hit, who knows what he could have done with his career.
Everything since then has just been mid to trash that gets a pass cuz of his name

yea... if he won that Oscar for Ali it might have been very different. But in all seriousness, he's not THAT good of an actor. He's absolutely maxed out on charm and at least used to be a box office draw. Now he's just like everyone else. Really sad tbh
No one tired of slave movies? Why not something more uplifting or almost non stereotypical?
Didn't he turn down Django Unchained because he didn't want to play a slave? lol

Then he realized how much praise that would have gotten him
this has the potential to be one of wills better films
he needs something big to get his film career back on track
