same and in retrospect it was probably a negative influence besides some social aspects

Yeah, it definitely helped me stay in the know with things going on and helped me maintain friendships and develop my taste for things. But can be a bad trade off for focusing on more important things and discipline

I remember in 5th grade, my teacher found out a lot of us had Facebook pages and he looked visibly disappointed and sad about it Lmaoo. At the time I was like “dude is overreacting

Then 2 years later I saw a Mexican cartel beheading video before my basketball game, and I realized he was right to feel that way

Morals are anchored in biology, they've existed long before religion. We are evolved to behave altruistically because that increases the chances of survival and reproductive success of our species. My point is that you can have a moral code without subscribing to a belief system

yeah so anchored in biology that the Greeks practiced pederasty, the Aztecs practiced human sacrifice, some Native American tribes would throw their children to the wilderness and force them to make their way back, the Vikings would leave malnourished/sick babies out to die in the wilderness from exposure, ya know, very regulated by biology

it’s almost like morals are colored by their cultural and societal contexts, but that’s just me i guess

Because it plays on faith lol

I don't say it's all just trash brainwashing, I love how churchs give kids much needed free programs and have many programs to help adults too, soup kitchens and all that is awesome. I used to volunteer at a church I grew up by doing that and I wasnt religious at all

but at the end of the day religion toys with faith and beliefs on how you must live your life with an ultimate punishment to keep you in line. It can literally change the way you view anything in life based on repeated ideals so I get it but online it's so f***ing overstated and if religion helps some people, that's a good thing

Like I said, it all just depends on the Church and I’ve never experienced that in any of the churches I’ve visited where the focus is mainly on community and God.

I only ever see the brainwashing in churches based around disenfranchised people who are easy to manipulate

ya I was a big reader before and it slowly just transitioned to me reading the internet on my phone lol

you do get exposure to a bunch of information but I wish I built better habits with it early on

wait until you find out everyone holds faith in something or have beliefs that cannot be rationally justified

I'm well aware lol religion is only one type of faith, but anyone can be manipulated with faith in one way or another

I'm not even anti church I'm anti mega churchs and think the tax situation should be modernized

this thread is living breathing proof as to why Descartes is hopefully burning in the deepest parts of Naraka fathomable

nigga dropped the cogito ergo sum and we’ve been obsessed with “””logic””” and “rationality””” ever since, very crazy unfortunate stuff

  • Jan 6, 2024

There should be a laws about content creation. Or some kind of regulation too easy to get caught up in the negative feedback loop since negativity gets the most attention
