the redsHe was popular af before IYRTITL or NWTS.
His rap hits before those 2 albums consisted of: Headlines, I'm On One, Forever, HYFR, Over, She Will, The Motto, and some more. Even if you didnt like his music, you didnt change the radio when song like Headlines came on.
He just wasn't respected by a large portion of Hip Hop fans until IYRTITL and the Meek beef, which is a big difference.
I know he was big since the start, I just see TC, SFG etc being way less remembered in Drake's discussions

yeah i don't think the issue was that people "didnt care" about his music, it was just that he wasn't respect
i specifically remember the day IYRT dropped and it was like the public attitude of him completely changed overnight

yeah i get what you mean. drake himself said that he hated that people were doing the ''drake's is the type of fella..'' memes all the time if i remember correctly and wanted to get rid of it by dropping something harder and it actually worked
