Couldn’t get into Nioh 1 or 2, gameplay just didn’t click for me the way souls/bb/sekiro do. Is the gameplay/combat better in this even if you’re saying it’s less varied? Looking at copping it on sale

The only thing different/better about this game is that you can jump. lol

Thanks for the write up. Yeah I don’t really rock with combo focused fighter type games, I beat the first boss in Nioh 2 but just didn’t feel like I was enjoying it that much. I like reactive combat more than combos.

Lies of P has been pretty enjoyable to me so far, drippy atmosphere is carrying it but the combat is definitely a little basic. Exploration is almost non-existent.

nioh is the strtegic combat style of souls but yeah its more light combos and more reaction based stuff is def from their ninja gaiden side, its like a marriage of both worlds

but yes wo long is way more straight forward, if u have gamepass i would def reccomend it then since its basically free - like in lies of p the first level is kinda meh and a turorial but after that it changes up more

lies of p theres thing i love and things i hate

the main thing is that bosses havelittle tell-tale signs of actions and they have instant framing, which souls have tell-tale and smooth framing where it showsthe whole action in real time- makes it easier to regonize attacks and to react the souls wayand makes it not feel like bullshit - onjly a very few bosses from fromsoft are "cheap" like that and its usually the ones people ldislike the most

the other main thing i really disliked in P is that there somuch bullshit on the ground that you get stuck on or run into andmost of them arent breakable - which again in fromsoft and even most souls-likes you have more wider space and also most objects are able to be ran/dodged/attack through which in most of them are solid like the briefcases everywhere in the first quarter of the game

the story was meh to me and the mechainc of mixxing weapons i never felt like was needed or ever useful

i liked the general gameplay and especially the metal arm and i liked the characters - and the narrative thread of the hunter people/organizations that dress up as animal

its not bad to me but average, i would still say its a successful souls-like which there arent too many of imo - just a few annoyances mainly, and more minor my personal taste of not really caring for the overall story and the robot enemy designs

Oh yeah, I completely forgot that it does have a Sekiro esque parry mechanic that's much more forgiving than Sekiro or Lies of P. I can't see anyone messing with this game heavy if they didn't like Nioh though, it's just Nioh with some Sekiro mechanics

I’m on ps5 no gamepass, it’s $34 on sale rn though that’s why I was considering it.
