He has been promoting Peacemaker Season 2 this entire time by repeatedly saying that it is setting up the next movie in the Superman Saga.
Do you think he’s saying that so people don’t watch Peacemaker?
If he didn’t want “families” who saw Superman to watch Peacemaker, he would say that the two aren’t connected whatsoever
No lol but it won’t be required.
Okay? Why didn’t they say f*** in Superman then but they had Lex say it in the show? Because they want who to go see Superman movies? Everyone of all ages wow and this wouldn’t be possible if what show is required to watch? Peacemaker! Because it’s rated MA and some kids can’t watch it.
So again I ask, why has been continuously promoting Peacemaker by mentioning Man of Tomorrow?

So people watch it? Doesn’t mean everyone will and he knows that lol. Like I said think a little bit. I’m willing to bet money if you’d like that it won’t be essential.
No lol but it won’t be required.
It’s comic book s***. Nothing is truly “required”. These films are never gonna be made to alienate everyone. Everything gets explained in every entry. Someone who’s never seen an MCU movie could start Infinity War right now and fully understand what’s happening after the first 20 minutes.
That doesn’t make everything in the MCU before it not essential viewing

You disagreeing with the nigga who wrote these stories at this point

Let’s bet then
Let’s bet then
I’m not even sure what the bet is supposed to be because we’re literally saying the same thing.
Is someone who doesn’t watch Peacemaker Season 2 going to be confused during Man of Tomorrow? Of course not. It’s a comic book film, they’re gonna overtly explain what’s happening in the first act of the film.
You’re just disagreeing with the notion that Peacemaker is essential viewing for Man of Tomorrow, even though James Gunn himself has said multiple times now that they’re very connected
Obviously they could include a little blurb at the beginning of a movie for background context, no s*** lmao
But so far Creature Commandos has directly tied into Superman which directly set up Supergirl and tied into Peacemaker Season 2 which is directly setting up Man of Tomorrow and also a spinoff show
Anyone still saying that the DCU is trying to tell small self-contained stories that don’t set up the next project is absolutely lying to themselves
I say this as someone who prefers that style for a cinematic universe so I’m not s***ting on it, I just don’t get why some are in denial about it
The DCEU was closer to how people are describing the DCU to be

I think you're confused on what self contained stories means lol

It’s not though
“No. Although they're connected and in the same universe, every project should work as an individual story in and of itself.” - James Gunn
@fader okay now we both posted quotes straight from his mouth so now what do we do
Isn’t he talking about the date he started writing Superman…? So how would you know the exact date?
He was talking about October 7th hamas attacks
I think it's fine for now, I was able to understand everything happening in Peacemaker and Superman without watching Creature Commandos. Though after watching it, the universe did feel more fleshed out and I cared more about Rick Flag as a character.

Creature Commandos does not matter whatsoever lol

Damn bro nobody give a F*** 😭
You really think theyre not gonna make the movie accessible for everyone despite the connection to peacemaker lol
This Peacemaker finale is gonna serve as a teaser for the fans and then theyll re explain everything in the actual movie its genuinely not that complicated of a situation but everyones being stupid about it

That’s all I’m saying lmao
It sets it up but obviously they’re gonna do an exposition dump at the start of the film, every single comic book film ever has done that
Anyone still saying that the DCU is trying to tell small self-contained stories that don’t set up the next project is absolutely lying to themselves

@fader okay now we both posted quotes straight from his mouth so now what do we do
And yet he’s said multiple times that the Peacemaker finale is more important than anything for setting up Man of Tomorrow
Btw, nobody is saying you CAN’T watch individual projects and know what’s going on. Nobody is saying that whatsoever.
You’re too caught up in the idea that “connected” means “I have to watch everything or I’ll be confused”
That’s not what it means
Bruh that line in Peacemaker is still in my head days later
“One got out! A black!”
That one line creates so many questions and potential scenarios, I’m going to be mad af if the show doesn’t spend some time going more in depth about the lore of that universe.
I’m not whatsoever
In your opinion what do you consider a self contained story ?
In your opinion what do you consider a self contained story ?
The DCEU was much more in-line with the idea of a cinematic universe telling self-contained stories. Yes, there were some projects that were obviously connected to each other (The Flash comes to mind), but for the most part, almost any other entry in the DCEU does not lead up to or set up anything else.
Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Shazam!, Suicide Squad, The Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Blue Beetel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
All of these projects don’t lead into, set up, or tie into literally anything else in the universe whatsoever

I agree the later half of the dceu was self contained stories. But I think the misconception here is that self contained stories dont interact with the larger universe at all.
Thats just wrong and not how comic stories which these films are based off have ever worked. As long as the story is written in a way that can be followed without needing to know much bg of the larger universe then its a self contained story.
