No disrespect and RIP but I’ve truly never understood why people rave over this dude so hard other than the fact that he made a relative massive leap in quality from being outright terrible to decent. Which that type of development is impressive I guess but I feel like it causes people to herald his later output to be more than it is. I think the celebration of white mediocrity in rap plays into this too otherwise people like Jack Harlow would be trashed on here more than they are
“No disrespect but not enough people were agreeing with me in the Mac Miller so I had to make a separate thread”
He is not white mediocrity lol & the whole indistry was f***ing with him & he helped a lot of niggas
From Macadelic in 2012/2013 he been up
He was already getting praised before his death too with Faces
Mac dying hurt a lot of the underground n upcoming mainstream
Bro was so friendly & charitable to so many
the only “bad” s*** he had was blue slide park IMO
was way too commercial
other than that he was dope
People give Mac a hard time on his early work like every other rapper wasn't dropping dog s*** like Room For Improvement and Training Day when they start rapping. All of his mainstream stuff was great some not so great but nothing bad at all. If anything it's a more impressive when an artist improves over a long time instead of dropping classics right away
I strongly dislike his raps, but he was a very safe/comfy presence for a lot of people so I've made peace with being in the minority of finding his music lacking. Good producer though

I always sympathized with Mac as a personality (he helped people etc) but all of that never made his music sound any better to me
His only bad/mediocre project from the era you’re referring to was Blue Slide Park
It was dope that he switched his entire sound after that project flopped and reinvented himself

His music is great lol & i wasnt talking personality
He is genuinely one of the few white rappers that were not only talented but also helped n gave back so much
He wasnt just a squatter & put the work in, & got respect from so many old, peers n new
What you personally like is up to you tho

what made his music great in your opinion ?
No way is Mac Miller white mediocrity imo. I think he has one of the best discogs of the 10s. Reinvented himself every album, could rap, was a decent enough singer and a good producer too.
Jack Harlow on the other hand makes music for a specific brand of suburban person.
At least speaking from how I see things and the people I know, you’re average Mac Miller fan probably wouldn’t f*** w Jack Harlow
“No disrespect but not enough people were agreeing with me in the Mac Miller so I had to make a separate thread”
I’m not being disrespectful and I think he was a cool guy, doesn’t mean I have to act like he was the second coming of Prodigy the way some people do
And yeah I feel like this discussion deserves a specific thread since it’s not really talked about much, and it’s an interesting honest question.
You’re also the same person who was whining about how Jack Harlow “has it harder because he’s white” so you’re just proving my point
he ain’t ever been my fave but i think he’s got greatness sprinkled throughout his catalog.
