y'all are so fragile on this site when it comes to rappers with a cult of personality
s*** is ridiculous lmao
Respectful of the culture in a way a lot white rappers aren’t and influential during the 2010’s whether you liked him or not
And to address OP yes because he wasn’t lazy, he was constantly growing as an artist which shows on Circles
He was just getting started

Wym?
I’m not being disrespectful and I think he was a cool guy, doesn’t mean I have to act like he was the second coming of Prodigy the way some people do
And yeah I feel like this discussion deserves a specific thread since it’s not really talked about much, and it’s an interesting honest question.
You’re also the same person who was whining about how Jack Harlow “has it harder because he’s white” so you’re just proving my point
You’re actually just accenting my point. You can twist my words all you want but what I what I said was white rappers in general have to work harder to get respect and be taken seriously by the industry and their peers.
Which is exactly what Mac did and still has bozos tearing down him and his work because of his frat rap beginnings, despite maturing as an artist and giving back to the genre and people that made him who he was.
what made his music great in your opinion ?
His creativity & just the way it sounds, he became a dope artist towards mid to the end of his career. He is also able to do many genres too.
And his beats + collabs he did with some ppl like Vince, Prodigy, Future, Schoolboy, Cool Kids etc. He's a good producer & executive producer, even did some stuff for SZA & Jhene too.
I was not a fan of early Mac Miller tho, i didnt like him till Macadelic.
Macadelic, Faces, his RnB ep i can never remember the name of, Divine Feminine & Good AM are my top 5 of his.
Hms to Live From Space & his instrumental project; Run on Sentences.
Hes talented as a musician all around, n a lot of people today n during the mid to late 2010s have been touched by or got a lot of help from dude too.
Him hanging out with TDE & Odd Future i think made him take art serious, but he was always a "student of the game" before that. He is def througho, & imo good as an artist.
If yall dont like him then yall dont like him
Like fr why is this necessary
I don’t even dislike him he’s just like whatever. I feel like he made decent music and nothing more than that but gets overly lauded because of the circumstances and his history
Nah I’ve never even heard his early s***, also not a fan of divine feminine and after
Really just a watching movies + faces fan with some good am and macadelic thrown in

Ok could say that about any popular artist who dies
But he’s had a legit fanbase on ktt at least even while he was living
No disrespect and RIP but I’ve truly never understood why people rave over this dude so hard

Mac Miller soundcloud is a treasure trove of his s*** he kept super lowkey
Would def suggest looking into if you javent and if its still up
He would have gangs of niggas old & new just doing random s*** staying at his house n studio.
Lot of solo loosies & collab loosies are on there like this that he put together:
At the end of day asking a question that boils down to “why do people like this music?” is stupid because everyone has their own tastes and there’s no right or wrong artist to hail or love. Dead or alive
Respectful of the culture in a way a lot white rappers aren’t and influential during the 2010’s whether you liked him or not
And to address OP yes because he wasn’t lazy, he was constantly growing as an artist which shows on Circles

This is a respectable take and I agree with your points in the first paragraph.. But again, the “was just getting started “ is just speculation and mythologizing when his output up until his passing was never THAT amazing and other people were doing very similar s*** that does not get the same degree of intense admiration
