Talking about “war in the working class” with 3 driving tickets boy if you don’t auto insurance is mandatory cause of ppl like you bruh if you f*** someone else up and are uninsured you’re not gonna have the potential tens of thousands to pay out of pocket for their property and medical expenses. Everybody hates insurance until they need it - which is understandable if you never need it - but everybody does at some point
Insurance never helped me
My last accident I hit a crazy deep puddle of water which dragged my car off the road (NJ backroads are super narrow) and into a ditch, which resulted in my car doing 5 flips in a field and landing back into the road facing the opposite way
Since I knocked someone’s bumper off when it landed back on the road I was “at fault” even though it was an occurrence of nature so I ended up with a totaled car and no help despite the thousands of dollars I’ve given these companies in my life :-)
I signed up and started this drive safe thing to get discounts and man they're tracking everything from exactly where I drive to hitting the brakes
S***s wild
FYI Make sure you turn it off when you're a passenger in someone elses car because it will sometimes tracks even when you're not driving
I read about somebody who did that s*** and they were saving about $20 a month personally I don’t think that’s worth the constant surveillance
It don't count against you

That’s a f***ed up situation and I get why you’re mad, but yeah, it is still your fault.
Long story short, someone is always held at fault in every accident (except at no fault states but that’s a different conversation). If two vehicles were involved, obviously, it’s because someone f***ed up. In a single vehicle accident, it’s because you weren’t driving carefully and could have and should have avoided whatever occurred. The exception to this is comprehensive - acts of god or nature as you put it. Sliding in poor road conditions and hitting something is not an act of god, that’s a single vehicle accident. You’re the only one who slid bruv, should’ve been driving more carefully.
Now imagine the roles were flipped. Your front bumper got knocked off by some guy driving poorly in poor road conditions. Are you going to accept being held at fault or do you think he should be? If it weren’t for you he would’ve been good
And your vehicle wasn’t repaired because you didn’t have collision coverage and that’s on you man. Collision and comprehensive coverage are optional but covers your vehicle when anything happens to it. What you’ve been paying for all this time is coverage to cover someone else if you are at fault, which still served you well here. Idk what vehicle that guy had but do you have $3000+ to spare to repair his vehicle? Probably not and that’s what your insurance covered. They explain this to you when you’re setting up your policy.
I hope you weren’t hurt too badly though 5 flips is f***ing insane, holy s***
You live in a big city?
Nah more of a business district-y college area, but my address is tied to my parents spot in the middle of the woods
FYI Make sure you turn it off when you're a passenger in someone elses car because it will sometimes tracks even when you're not driving
Mine connects to a Bluetooth thing in my car, I don't think it does anything outside of my car
But this is a good point if anyone ever drives my car with me in it
Insurance never helped me

Should be able to sue the state for the road being that bad tbh

If it happened to me on my end I feel like since we both pay generous amounts of money to these companies they should help us out, since that’s fundamentally what they’re set up for. Establishing a for-profit business dealing as mandatory inevitably leads to BS and labels of fault when sometimes..shit happens. after that accident the township immediately set up warning signs of poor road conditions and shortly after did road work so it must’ve been decided to be a generally dangerous circumstance
Should be able to sue the state for the road being that bad tbh
Someone told me to sue the township but I wasn’t really sure how to go about it and had a lot going on (plus no car to travel with)
because people are increasingly terrible at driving, cars are so much more expensive now, and insurance companies itself are built off of your fear
I signed up and started this drive safe thing to get discounts and man they're tracking everything from exactly where I drive to hitting the brakes
S***s wild
same saving me a couple bucks a month
Car insurance premiums are ridiculous. Northeast drivers are trash at driving so my premium keeps going up.

It feels like you’re not understanding anything I’m saying
And they’re businesses man they’re not just going to help you out. You literally got exactly what you paid for and agreed to. You chose that policy for yourself, not them.

If it’s mandatory it shouldn’t be business oriented is what I’m saying. Obvious pipeline to corruption. I had coverage in every category and still got f***ed. I don’t know which insurance agent you’re f***ing or related to but you act like it’s a total anomaly to get screwed by a business
You never heard the phrase never trust an insurance agent ??

People really cannot drive. I get stuck behind someone who completely pauses for the duration of a whole green light at least once every week or 2, not to mention the flagrantly dangerous stuff
Some guy almost killed my mother after running a red light and it turned out he has no insurance and the car he was driving wasn’t even his… and guess what? Jack s*** nothing happened to dude and he got away with it scotch free, so go ahead and drive around without insurance op not like anything will happen to you anyway

You said in op you had no accidents? No wonder mfers charging you a lot
I was once a feminist until I found out that women pay much less towards car insurance than men on the sole basis of gender
They get paid less

Same here but I think I blame the s*** roads/insane highway system the most...

Premiums are gonna get a whooooole lot worse too this winter
It’s terrible nowadays. I know niggas in Toronto with a $700 car note + $500 monthly for car insurance. That should be illegal.
There’s a reason why most of us don’t drive. They make it f***ing impossible to drive
First things first many of us are getting scammed so flagrantly it’s disrespectful. Making this s*** mandatory is such a curse. Im not sure if this is a universal issue in America or other countries but the tristate peoples on here know what I’m talking about. HOWWWWWW is it legal to charge somebody with no accidents in 5 years over $200 a month, let alone the fact my s*** just increased b 83% to what will be $360 a month because of a bullshit reckless driving ticket that I got from a bored bitter police officer (another issue but that’s neither here nor there I guess) . It’s only my 2nd or 3rd ticket with points in the last 5 years I believe I have six points … maximum
HOW IS THIS ALLOWED, war on the working class is so crazy
Car insurance rates def too high, especially considering it's illegal to drive without it (which is suspiciously convenient for auto insurers).
But at the same time, there are so many factors that can impact how much you have to pay for coverage, and how many accidents/safe driving history is arguably one of the least critical (unless you get in several at-fault wrecks or lots of traffic tickets, then your insurer will drop you).
• year, make, and model of your car
• the class of your car (everday/commuter, commercial, utility, etc)
• how many vehicles/drivers are on your policy (having more doesn't mean higher cost, sometimes it means lower)
• how many miles you drive on average per day and per week (common question asked when getting a new policy is "how many miles do you live from work and how often do you use your car to make that commute")
• how many drivers are registered to your car
• the types of coverages you have
• what state you live in
All of this stuff and more really impacts how much you'll pay a month for car insurance. Its really dumb how so many little variables, many of which are kinda out of your control, can make vast differences in how much you pay.
But i will also say that 3 tickets that put points on your license in just the past 5 years is uhhh not good haha. You are probably closer to being considered high risk than the majority of insured people
It’s kinda crazy that people are allowed to make money off of the risks that you are forced to take as a member of society
Like, you can’t exist without a car in America and you can’t exist without car insurance, but there isn’t really anything stopping an insurer from just charging u thru the roof
Yeah im sure there was collusion and hella lobbying a long time ago to force car insurance on people and the pricing have just been abused since
