We just saw just how popular hip hop was last year and a few days ago. It's still very much alive
I do agree with this somewhat.
I wouldn't say dying but things are definitely changing
Nah they’re dying for sure
Kill type beat producers
everybody tryna make a "hit" // but i think it says alot about the consumer, ready to just keep eating the same s*** over and over again

No it's literally people behind the scenes too
No it's literally people behind the scenes too
of course 100% there would be nothing being released without some instruction behind the scenes // but the fact that for example there are still fans of this stuff says alot about the main stream consumer
to me

that's two people not a genre
that's two people not a genre
Did niggas just forget about Future dropping 3 number 1 albums back to back?
that's two people not a genre
There was a lot great hip hop albums last year quality wise and commercial wise
We’d have to see a Gen Zer killing it like Kenny rn or prime Drake tbh; one speaks to the unique feelings and experiences of mfs born of Gen Z as well. It can’t start any other way
bring R&B singers back on the hooks
bring R&B back so it’s more things to sample/interpolate
bring yearners back
rep your set/hometown/place of origin
start rapping over niggas beats again
bring friendships/posses/groups back
actually want to rap and perfect the craft and not just be a meme
just in the last 2 years....
I can go on... mainstream hiphop is doing absolutely fine, there may be an argument about new rising stars but even then we see every year a new crop of artists arise. dont know why people think hiphop is dying
Stream logic, joyner lucas, cudi, machine gun kelly
You know what’s crazy about MGK is he gets a lot of s*** but the people in Cleveland really love him lol. He does some type of charity weekend every year and he rides bikes with locals and goes through all the neighborhoods, talks to everyone, etc

Unfortunately I think the music that "speaks to the unique feelings and experiences" of Gen Z is something like those hyperpop songs where they reference memes and video games in the lyrics. I don't think that should be encouraged. Maybe Gen Z is too internet-brained and navel-gazing to make good music

I see what you’re saying and I concluded a while ago that the solution is for an early Gen z’er to do it. They’ve got the experience of “pre-internet brain” but can relate to the after of that
