We just saw just how popular hip hop was last year and a few days ago. It's still very much alive

  • OMEGA

I do agree with this somewhat.

I wouldn't say dying but things are definitely changing

    Nah they’re dying for sure

No it's literally people behind the scenes too

No it's literally people behind the scenes too

of course 100% there would be nothing being released without some instruction behind the scenes // but the fact that for example there are still fans of this stuff says alot about the main stream consumer

    to me

We’d have to see a Gen Zer killing it like Kenny rn or prime Drake tbh; one speaks to the unique feelings and experiences of mfs born of Gen Z as well. It can’t start any other way

just in the last 2 years....

    • biggest mainstream battle between 2 artsist EVER
    • 3 back to back #1s for Future
    • Biggest rap song of the decade, possibly of all genres for the 2020s
    • Utopia success
    • Kanye independelty got a #1 hit and #1 album
    • carti's influence and his clones

I can go on... mainstream hiphop is doing absolutely fine, there may be an argument about new rising stars but even then we see every year a new crop of artists arise. dont know why people think hiphop is dying

    The Krab Season

Stream logic, joyner lucas, cudi, machine gun kelly

You know what’s crazy about MGK is he gets a lot of s*** but the people in Cleveland really love him lol. He does some type of charity weekend every year and he rides bikes with locals and goes through all the neighborhoods, talks to everyone, etc

Unfortunately I think the music that "speaks to the unique feelings and experiences" of Gen Z is something like those hyperpop songs where they reference memes and video games in the lyrics. I don't think that should be encouraged. Maybe Gen Z is too internet-brained and navel-gazing to make good music

I see what you’re saying and I concluded a while ago that the solution is for an early Gen z’er to do it. They’ve got the experience of “pre-internet brain” but can relate to the after of that
