So how yall like Ishin?
finished story mode of 0 and loved it, currently doing the side stuff. thinking ill play Kiwami next, then Ishin as a palate cleaner before jumping into 7. I know I should probably play all of them but I don't want to invest like 2000 hours so im doing a condensed run to kind of get up to speed. this plan work?

No.
No.
is the only answer to play them all? I like 0 enough I might do it, just wondering if there are any skippable installments

I wouldn't call any of them skippable but if you want to mix up the kiwami through six run with ishin, 7 , or zero at any point I think that works just fine.

You don't have to play them all but 0-1 & then 7 won't really be a run down. You're garaunteed to be lost when you get to 7.
I'd say if you want a condensed run w/Kiryu then 0, 1, 2 & 6(this is important as its Kiryu's send off) then 7 has a whole separate story.

Lol what?
Lol what?
just because zero is a prequel doesn't mean it has to be played first in kiryus story.ishin and seven have little relation to kiyrus story.
the only really important chronological run is 1-6

Lol I've played every Yakuza game to date regardless of region 1 or 2. I think I know how the story unfolds
The man said 1. He already started at 0. Did you read? & 2. He wants a rundown of the series. I would assume comprehensive. Since he considers playing through them in order. You're telling him to plug 0 & 7 whenever he wants is stupid. That's just my opinion. Especially considering he clearly wants the numbered entries to tie in whether its playing them all or the key titles.
Imagine playing 7 & then 6 & not knowing s*** about the references to Kiryuu & his cast. Im pretty sure that happened itt when LID firat came out. Most people suggest 0 as an entry point not just because its a prequel but because its one of the best entry points in general regardless lol
The dude literally already played 0, has plans already for ishin & 7. You basically gave him some whatever advice. Idk if you read his question or what
No s*** Ishin is unrelated to Kiryuu. Not the same setting or even his name in the game lol

If you want a condensed run and you finished 0 & have plans of playing Kiwami. After your planned break w/Ishin do NOT skip Kiwami 2. One of the best in the series. After that if you don't want to go through the grind of 3, 4 & 5 then just go into 6. The start of 6 will get you hip to 5. 6 will wrap up Kiryuu's run. Kinda.

magine getting so emotional like this
@World1 as someone who's been with the series for a long time, what're your thoughts on Kiryu returning in the next game?

I'm not emotional but if you had no good advice why chime in? Lol

my advice is that the series can be played in a semi non linear fashion
just my opinion
like pulp fiction, stories can be non linear and a human can still put the pieces together. he asked if there was a differing opinions and I gave it to him.

Meh, as much I don't mind playing as him again. I kinda wish they had just committed to the new direction & but next game he seems to play a major role. Him in the Turn Based System will be weird but I'm feinding for another numbered entry so....

okay cool I think that's what ill do then (1,2, 6, ishin, 7)

As @thebham said, if you experience burnout after 0 & 1 you can easily just hop into Ishin as it's standalone.
3, 4 & 5 are the beefiest. 5 is one of the longest in the series tbh

Yeah I mean I’m already totally in love with this series so I might just play all 8 mainline games plus Ishin (and Gaiden when it comes out), I just don’t want to experience burnout yet I also want to be all caught up by the release of 8 next year
So how yall like Ishin?
Some of the best side content in the series. Loved the historical stuff and really enjoyed my time with it. It feels like a classic samurai film.
I got it top 3 or 4 in the series after Y0, Kiwami 2, and maybe LAD.
i really wanna play ishin but i wanna beat 0 first
then idk if i just go to that then to all the other games or wait

Being caught up on the main line entries before 8 is doable if paced properly. Idk if you'll be able to play any other games this year though
lol
