This thread still so f***ing dumb because a ton of Ye stans are also big on Wayne, Thug, and Jay lol
And plenty of them are like baella
If this same thread was made about drake it would be locked by page 2
This applies more to Kanye than drake though
Absolutely
Ye stans now are like Em stans in the 2000s who dont listen to rap but think it revolves around their favorite artist
The few people I know that think being a republican counts as a personality are the biggest Ye stans I've met if we're talking about real life. Other then me of course but we're not super close. I've even had them tell me "Kanye doesn't count as hip-hop because he makes real music". This is the only place I can talk to other ye stans that aren't weird, irl ye stans are annoying and ignorant
I remember seeing a thread a while back on here saying Ye was the first rapper to be an artist or something along those lines and a lot of Ye stans feel that way
Thankfully the OP of that thread was roasted so not all Ye stans are that delusional but some def are
this not true at all lmfao especially on this site
It's definitely true. Don't conflate KTT with the general populace lol
The modern Ye Stan is NOT big on Wayne
They liked the Thug tiny desk because it had guitars but never heard a full thug project
And they’ve only heard Blueprint and 444 from Jay
Stop getting your info from KTT2 my man.
Even on KTT1 the biggest Ye stans were also Thug stans lol. Other social media reflects this, too.
Wtf is the modern Ye stan? A 12 year old who wasn't even old enough to experience Wayne's peak? That'll happen when you're still relevant as long as Ye is. Newer stans weren't around for most of his contemporaries and only know them as washed up husks.
Some of you guys gotta get a grip. Thread full of garbage generalizations misconstrued from extremely limited interactions with other people. If you track Kanye's listens on Spotify/AM I guarantee there's a f***ton of crossover with Drake, Thug, Future, Travis, etc.

I wouldn’t use the term “modern Ye stan”
But I think there’s a certain subsection of Ye fans that is that “artsy” type and a lot of them probably weren’t f***ing with hip hop like that especially niggas like Wayne who never appealed to that group.
Young Thug did appeal to them tho so 2words is wrong acting like this is a new thing, but we also gotta note WHY a lot of those people were f***ing with him too just like Ye.

This is gonna happen with any artist with as much acclaim as Kanye, doubly so if they crossover into as many different lanes as he did. But you're talking about a minority of a minority of a minority. The overwhelming majority of Ye fans listen to the same s*** everyone else does. To try and make massive generalizations and grandstand a point about that super small subsection of fans is dumb as hell.
not to mention that Kanye makes distinctly different music than Wayne did. People f***ing with Ye and not with Wayne and artists of his ilk isn't the point people in here think it is. What superstar artist was making music that sounded like Ye's when he was making it? Obviously there will be an audience beyond the regular hip hop listeners who f*** with it.
Never met anyone who says the only rap artist they listen to is Kanye
ive met way too many
I have a theory that Ye lowkey encouraged experimentation in hip-hop albums with 808s and a lot of artists who came after wouldn't feel as comfortable making sudden switches in their sound if not for 808s Like fr, who in the mainstream did something like go from TCD/LR to Graduation to 808s before Ye? And now it's common af for rappers to try and vary their discographies

I’m not getting my info from ktt, I’m not talking about us
What I see on Twitter a lot is people who only like Kanye Kendrick Tyler Frank Carti and Travis. I get the impression that they give Thug props but aren’t really fans of him like that and don’t put his music on the same pedestal as those others. These people definitely don’t like Future and hate Drake
The group I’m talking about started being loud on Twitter right after TLOP. I would actually call that album and rollout the turning point where a lot of corny people entered the discourse. Dissect Podcast is kind of the epitome of it

Anyone who likes Kanye’s first 3 albums should love Carter 2 and 3. Carter 3 and Graduation aren’t distinctly different really, they have a lot in common. TLOP is in that same lane too, actually reminds me of C3 a lot
Ye is just more relatable to white people that’s really the distinction. Or presents himself as more artsy and certain fans need that. The music itself ain’t distinctly different tho

I could be wrong but I feel like they only give Thug props just to have one go to street rapper after his innovation became undeniable. But they don’t put his albums on the same pedestal and I really don’t think that group listens to him like that

I mean this is bullshit. You're talking about an extreme minority of his listeners. Every artist you named is completely different from each other, which literally s***s on this whole point. "Artsy" is a signifier you've placed on them yourself. Those guys just make music lol
To say that fans of Carti and Travis don't like Future for example is insanity. To think they hate Drake is seriously you just not paying attention. Those artists all have a f***ton of listening crossover with Drake. Most of the ppl who listen to music don't even post about that s*** on socials honestly lmao. They're definitely not participating in any damn discourse.
Ye himself has never positioned any of these guys as less than him because of their stylistic differences. If anything he championed Wayne more than anyone not named Drake
Frfrfr, Tribe, de-la, dilla& madlib, wu tang etc all made that “high art” “elevated” rap
Yeah and it's funny that it is just a generation thing. I completely forgot these guys exist just cause I grew up on rap starting from the 2010s. A lot of people on this site grew up on these guys you named and probably have high snotty nosed opinions too lol.

This more of a generation thing. I bet if this site existed back then, they would be saying that s*** about Doom or Wu-tang or bone thugs-n-harmony
