nigga when u come back to ktt

and lmao i was around they didn’t bring in people to the extent kanye did lmao that’s just false

They did. So many people back then even some black people who didnt really fw rap started listening to rap cause of outkast. Back then they were those niggas who people said "I dont really like rap but outkast is cool" about.

They even had a skit on aquemini which was basically about how they alienated some of their original fanbase with their recent music

You can hate those people for being pretentious and snobby but you can’t change the fact that without those people and that audience rap wouldn’t be where it is today.

I get what OP means in that there's definitely a way I see people talk about Kanye like he's a 'safe' way to listen to Hip-Hop, doesn't negate the impact of his masterpieces tho

To the MAGA Yandhi stans, it's like he's a cartoon character, like an aesthetic as a person, there's a way they treat mashups and memes with him that doesn't sit well with me, I don't have any problem with those in themselves, but some of them you can tell are coming from a weird place

The thing OP highlighted as the issue is actually the thing that made hip-hop expand and become as global and beautiful as it is today.

In short, OP is an actual close-minded moron. BUT there’s a lot of music listeners like that.

They don't just exist with Kanye though.

There's literally skinheads in Eastern Europe with Tupac tattoos.

Yup! Exactly. It happens in all genres. If the music is good, it reaches people from versions regions, believe systems, and cultures. Music has done that for centuries. It’s the nature of the artistic medium and the connection is has to humans.

I'm a Weezy stan but Wayne just appealed to all types, including hood niggas who loved his mixtapes.

And he was often slammed by White hip hop purists and critics, being blamed for "ruining rap" and what have you.

Pretty much every big rapper typically appeals to everyone.

Those purist are the minority. You go to any high school from 07 to 12 and you will see that white teens were in love with him.

Lowkey tho @op just made a s*** on kanye fans thread. Either that or he truly didnt really think deeper about this because this phenomenon has been a thing in rap since the early 90s

It’s not as big a problem as you make it out to be and I think a big reason you made this thread is to bait Ye fans, but yeah it’s true who cares tho

Yeah, like you know you'll be treated like you're over-sensitive for calling it out, but it's really a case of knowing it when you see it, there's a vibe with those memes that's basically 'black people = funny'

Not to say every meme about Kanye or DaBaby is about that, but you can feel it from certain ones

    Oh I agree 100%.

But I meant that the type of people OP is talking about who praised Kanye's work tended to look down on Wayne back then and saw him as too commercial and not artistic enough.

Thing about hip hop is that it’s a hybrid of every genre, Kanye music is as hip hop as it gets, so Kanye is doing his job

Outsiders coming in and being lame isn’t his fault

In an interview last week Common summed it up nicely. He said early 2000’s Ye took the heart and soul of hip-hip and made it palatable to the masses. This is Kanye’s great legacy if we’re being honest.

White people have been the biggest consumers of Hip-Hop before Kanye could've ever had as large of an impact so this argument is f***ing stupid
