    I did.

    They didn’t

But my point is it’s impossible to release anything for free anymore because of streaming. Which is why the mixtape is dead.

How does that change anything? If the f***ing Eagles threaten to sue you you’re gonna stop doing whatever they told you not to do they don’t actually have to sue you.

    Well that’s just franks word

  • This still isn’t my main point brother

  • Even if all original content artists can’t create free mixtapes because without streaming an entire generation is unable to access music.

Can you show me where artists lost these lawsuits then I’ll stop

Even if the lawsuits weren’t lost don’t u think having to be involved in a lawsuit would discourage doing the thing that’ll get u sued

No yeah sure. Then streaming eliminates it completely because of money made

Labels got their hand and feet in everything right now, including releases

Also, niggas not about to let niggas rap on their beat without paying.

Also, the mixtape sites theirselves are basically extinct. I have the LiveMixtapes app solely for the fact to listen to old mixtapes, but damn near every old mixtape can’t be downloaded.

But I do miss it. Used to check LiveMixtapes and DatPiff everyday like it was the morning papers

If you had a mixtape and it was close to a thousand score, I listened. You had motion.

Niggas used to treat mixtapes like they was albums

  • The Death of The Mixtape has lowkey killed the genre....

It brought hype, excitement, and attention before and album release

  • Also i think rappers dont wanna "waste bars" on free music

Last sentence lowkey contributed to the death of the mixtape.

Drake, chance, rocky, cole, wale, and KRIT gave us classic mixtapes but it legit dont really make sense for original production to be put on a mixtape
