Labels got their hand and feet in everything right now, including releases

Also, niggas not about to let niggas rap on their beat without paying.

Also, the mixtape sites theirselves are basically extinct. I have the LiveMixtapes app solely for the fact to listen to old mixtapes, but damn near every old mixtape can’t be downloaded.

But I do miss it. Used to check LiveMixtapes and DatPiff everyday like it was the morning papers

If you had a mixtape and it was close to a thousand score, I listened. You had motion.

Niggas used to treat mixtapes like they was albums

Someone gotta start a new mixtape app but with payment and s*** built in lol
Producers wouldnt mind at all their beats getting a second life

But im only throwing this idea out there bc it would have to be someone kinda plugged in

    Ironically like a dj drama

  • the (labels) thought process is there’s no reason to allow for free music when even the paid music is released to youtube and other free outlets

I’d say it’s more corporations than labels.

Labels invested in and profited heavily off these artists that had to make great takes before taking off

Spotify and Apple would rather that not happen so that eventually you don’t really like music and will accept ai tunes so they don’t have to pay anyone.
