To protect corporations and s***ty clickbait
the reason is almost certainly because every time a government agency releases a video the dislike ratio is like 9000:1. Anytime the white house does a live stream or the CDC releases a video or something they get disliked immediately into oblivion. It's already well known all major tech companies basically just do the bidding of government agencies at their core, they're an all but unofficial wing of them. gotta keep the falsified perception the government is popular and all things are fine and dandy and whatnot
Im still mad at them for disabling comments on artist pages. Reading comments from old heads while listening to music>>
if we're being honest youtube is a washed platform but they have a monopoly in that space so what are you gonna do

i was just thinking of this recently. used to love reading like old 40-50 year olds dropping stories you'd never hear anywhere else in the comments. felt like campfire stories or something again. gonna be a lost art.
Feels unnecessary but it's whatever, I don't even dislike videos I don't like to care that much
Me neither but when I’m looking at tutorials I immediately look at how many dislikes a video has to see if the info was good or not or if it works. Taking this away will suck
Theyre doing this cause msm news sites get disliked to s***
This
Reminds me of how netflix used to late you rate using stars and then axed that system to protect Amy f***ing schumer

Also a major factor yes
Like/Dislike ratio come in clutch for cooking recipes.
This, not to mention all those fake click bait song or sports news titles. What a ridiculous thing to remove

Furthermore the algorithm is completely f***ed when you look up political stuff, just mainstream media accounts galore. I wanted to show my friend a Joe Biden gaffe and I couldnt even find a video. Had to go to the Jimmy Dore video discussing it to get it
lame
Justin Bieber won !
They're brad as pitt about stuff like this
Right wingers are the real NEETs I swear

Genuinely cannot think of a good reason for why they would do this
How did it increase their revenue whatsoever

The algorithm on all social media sites is absolutely nonsensical and it's honestly amazing that websites are allowed to not disclose algorithmic factors. You know they're pulling some wild s*** behind the scenes that they keep lobbying to prevent this from going into legislature. "well we don't actually know how the algorithm works, it has a mind of its own" is such fake and transparent bullshit.
How's the ad situation on there compared to YouTube?
Sorry my post was not serious I am not aware of the Dailymotion ads. The type of content I use Youtube for won't be really affected by this change so I don't care, but I do think it's stupid because it will affect a lot of other content. More disadvantages than advantages at the end of the day, in my opinion.
Man it was truly the best to see motherfuckers like Steven crowder getting BODIED by the dislike ratio
