You’re literally misunderstanding me. I’m not saying don’t love your people or help people get through hard times. Im saying if it someone is always in some hard situation, for years, and they never progress, and you’ve been putting your effort into helping them and advising them and nothing changes, eventually you have to realize it is a waste of effort. You’re getting no return from helping that person (which isn’t really the point but at least you can feel good about helping someone when you see the change you’ve been helping them work towards manifest) neither are they because they’re not doing s*** differently or working towards change.

Nothing is instant and people have diff situations but you have to realize when you are giving your energy and time to people who care less than you do about changing their situation and don’t want to be more proactive or grow. That is a net negative.

Before you try to paint me a certain way, just know I am there for everyone in my life to console them and support them but I don’t coddle them if they’re f***ing off or making decisions that don’t align with what could benefit them the most in a general sense.

F*** no it’s not wrong to cut your family ouff. Don’t rush to cut anyone off, think long and hard about the value they bring to your life, vice versa, and what that relationship means to you. Can you have real conversations with that person and explain your perspective and come to a common ground? Or are they gonna use you and then shut it down if you ever try to give them feedback that can help y’all’s relationship and their life? If it’s the latter, consider limiting how much you invest in that person because they can drain you.

Respecting yourself, establishing boundaries and limiting your investment into people who don’t want to give and take or grow after a long time, is key imo to getting your energy back, staying out of drama and not wasting your time. It is situational tho. Family is important and you get one life so you don’t want to be estranged from your people but if they’re legit toxic asf and don’t seem like they’re willing to change or working on that, u have to prioritize your peace.
