as the 2010s went on tho rap crushed every other genre more and more. the 2000s was more equal between highs from different genres imo
only cause of streaming. If streaming was around in the 00s GRODT or those early Em albums would probably still hold all records lol rap barely had a #1 record this decade until 2016
idk seems like she lost a lot of her personal style by that point
She’s chasing a Grammy last two albums
So that’s why she seems lost
Before 2010 she was a sweet country singer
But still the music stepped up a lot imo this decade
But I absolutely respect your opinion you know your music
Yea the back half of the 2010s is fairly weak
2010-2015 my favorite stretch in music ever though
2000s is a great time for genres coming together too. it's easier for fans now cos of streaming, but some of the new scenes and cultures being put together in the 2000s would have been crazy at the time

That's true. I remember one time she was sad she didn't win aoty, but said "guess I just have to make a better album next time."
I think she wants to go down in history, but she might be trying a little too hard sometimes

she's always been a grammy favourite i thought anyway?
i just mean songs really, i'm not a big country fan but i think her older songwriting has more personality
i think she'll get AOTY for folklore unless they give it to some artist or genre they've snubbed in the past. they've done that so many times, there's bands from the 60s that didn't start getting grammys till they were washed up in the 80s lol

That’s why she needs to go back to 1989 vibes
Lover and folklore are both great albums she’s incapable of making a bad album with her songwriting abilities but she’s not going for it atm

Right. Some artists are such amazing vocalists or writers they'll never end up with a truly bad album. She's one of them.
I think going back to her 1989, Red type of vibes would be helpful, but I won't be mad if she doesn't. She may be past that tbh. I always get mad at people saying Usher needs to go back to his Confessions sound, so I can't be a hypocrite and say she needs to go back to her magnum opus too lol
I think she just needs to focus on creating a masterpiece like she was before and she'll be able to squeeze out one or two more huge eras like that and have the critical acclaim and quality too. She's got a huge and loyal fanbase, so she'll be fine either way

i didn't mean in sales. just in general relevance. for younger fans hip hop has dominated over everything. that was probably true in the 2000s too. but there's some genres which have completely fallen out the conversation for younger people. the arctic monkeys could compete with any US rapper in the uk in the mid 2000s for younger fans, now no rock band would come close. the same with soul/r&b and amy winehouse. at her peak she could compete over here with us or uk rapper.
i'm just talking about the uk there tho. that whole ye thing of 'rappers the new rockstars' was true in the 2000s, but now it's more like for youth culture they're the only rockstars if that makes sense
2010s easy for drake alone
2000s had say what's real and best i ever had at least
I’m waiting for the counter proof
Even better

It’s really good but I like I Love It more
2000s
Speak now, Taylor swift, and fearless aren’t even close to Red, 1989 and Folklore
1989 prob my favorite followed by Folklore
10s
and no doubt it's the 10s for most of us here
