I said kanye too, jayz kanye lupe wayne young jeezy, mf doom, these r imo the best rappers from that era, 50 is cool, camron is cool, but those r the most high level rappers

80s might be the greatest but the 2000s might be up there as well

i think those are a variety of starting points if you're not familiar with anything from that era, not extensive just my favourites but they work if you're not familiar
i don't know what your personal taste is but i can't imagine anybody being disappointed by any of those records

Yeah if u studied all rap
maybe not in general but in rap
its def the 00s . Too many people were doing their thing on a very high level

people forgot nowadays but they made hiphop this big and it wasnt a easy road at all

Yeah but 90’s was where people were establishing sounds and making dope s***. 90’s rap is what influenced 2000’s and up

    This is dope!
And the Isley brothers song you posted earlier was actually insane.
So much light warmth from songs back then.

70s 80s and 90s were arguably just as stacked if not more so

2000s was definitely peak rap though

That 40 year stretch from the 70s to the the 2000s was peak music

It was just the perfect storm of recording technology maturing to a certain point but not being as accessible as it is today so only the elite talent was able to even get in the studio

60s and 2010s were great too really a 60 year stretch that peaked in the 80s and 90s imo

Prior to that in the 50s and earlier primitive recording technology renders most of that music unlistenable by modern standards and as we can see in the modern decade of the 2020s recording technology is TOO accessible
