what I’m saying, BECAUSE of those lists, you have many other sub genres of hiphop that get overlooked in year end lists that then makes that amazing music being made by black artists viewed as “white people” music because the white people and people running those websites make no efforts to learn about the overall genre unless it encircles a particular criteria they have come to determine hiphop by. so a nigga like Gucci could be storytelling on some out of this world sounds, but get overlooked cause he didn’t use sounds and song structures that make these people deem it as listenable

If you’re a musician and Bob Marley is your favorite artist of all time yet nothing you do creatively is anywhere close to anything he did then he’s not your favorite artist

my main point is, the artists keep running to these platforms with major influence in people’s opinions like their opinions matter so the listener is only left to think their opinions matter where this person can’t possibly review everything so if they never review a trap artist or consistently review trap artists badly, you are simply going to think that trap has been dead or struggling to find quality for a decade

that’s my whole point. these major publications and reviewers end up all having the same or similar year end lists and artists have learned how to tailor their music to fit a good review because of the influence it holds on fans and other publications

therefore discrediting trap artists or other sub genres, who like you said, may simply just not care or be aware creating that separation and mindset of “this is white people music”

You don't have to make the same music as your favorite artists. Sure you'd expect to hear some of their influence in the music. But it's not always guaranteed.
