Look at the Another Code Recollection coming this month
In the Direct it was announced in, Nintendo called it a “remaster”
Watch this video
This is NOT a remaster
It’s a full ass remake
We need to start splitting remakes into 3 categories
Remaster = bring the game to a modern platform and doing the bare minimum of cleaning up the game
EXAMPLE: Super Mario 3D All Stars. They didn’t do anything to it expect some minor things and minor graphic updates
Remake = building an old game from the ground up. New assets for everything. Basically a brand new game except they have source material to work with
EXAMPLE: Spyro Trilogy, Crash Trilogy. The EXACT original games, with a new coat of paint
Reimagining: technically a “remake” but they change the story and gameplay. A rework of what the original game was and flip it on its head. Has the same spirit of the game but different
EXAMPLE: FF7R, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4. They’re similar to their original game. But like I said, the gameplay can be completely different like FF7R and the story was similar to the OG but changed. Or RE4. Gameplay changed, story reworked, old levels and new levels added. It’s. Anew damn game
Overall, those 3 categories should be considered different and treated differently
Lmao jk, I appreciate the write-up

I saw the rumor was it’s gonna be a Mini. Or is that a separate rumor?

The Direct mini tweet ended up being BS
The Digital Foundry journalist was referring to this:
Which is a good thing cus I’d rather have a proper Direct than a mini (MP4 as the closing game of the final Direct before Switch 2 is finally revealed )
That’s just semantics and it was wholly irrelevant to our discussion which is why it’s pedantic and weird for that poster to obsess over how different the remake trilogy is, the word remake does not contain some meaning that says it has to be exactly like the game it’s a remake of
Remakes can range from extremely faithful to a near complete reimagining
It is legitimately delusional to believe that a Remake can have a different story, combat system, characters acknowledging events that happened in the original game, etc. It's a sequel. You would know if you played. What else do you call a game that continues the story of a previous game?

The differences in FF7R are SIGNIFICANTLY more drastic than anything in RE2 or RE4 remakes. Which is why it's silly to group them together. Narratively, FF7R is a sequel to the original game. Not as in a fan-contextual way -- literally within the context of the game, it is a sequel to all Final Fantasy 7 media. It takes place post-Advent Children. Characters acknowledge this. The game acknowledges this. What else do you call a game that continues the story of a previous game? It's not a reimagining that acts as if the original game never occurred and simply tells the story in a different way. 7R and the characters within it LITERALLY acknowledge events that occurred at the end of the original game.
@op only for PS-only players maybe? but even Rebirth and Silent Hill remake are desirable games no?
Xbox players have:
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
Hellblade II
Dragon's Dogma 2
Black Myth Wu-Kong
STALKER 2
Jet Set Radio
Avowed
Indiana Jones
Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred
and more too since the year JUST began

Whyd you say PS-only and then list a bunch of multiplats

FF7R trilogy is a sequel that also reimagines the original game, which makes it a..
re-sequel.
