Clip is from his interview on the shop. It’s not long but I think it speaks volumes. He basically saying that being able to instantly create and gain stardom without having to take the time to develop a unique sound is why everyone sounds the same in this generation

I can respect why he doesn't release a solo album because he has nothing significant to rap/talk about at this stage in his life

Doesn’t that fall on standards being lowered for production? “Beats that worked for rappers to make hits on no longer need to be stylistically unique” is the problem if the lack of a unique sound is the problem in rap

Rap is cooked cuz the white kids are boosting artists like Ian and netspend instead of people who actually represent the roots of the culture as opposed to exploiting it

I think it’s the immediacy of both honestly

Producers aren’t spending nearly as much time developing musically

love that for andre but not everybody has an infrastructure to hone their sound same way they did with dungeon family. bedroom producers popping is primarily due to how disconnected and at-home most rap communities are. its probably next to impossible to escape this reality for a lot of them

yeah people with no class consciousness/no ability to seriously critique capitalism are unequipped to really see what the problem is

Who specifically has gained stardom and has not had the time to develop a unique sound? I feel like there are less of those cases compared to established stars in the genre that developed their sound

I feel like more often than not the artists that you'd say have stardom have been around for awhile and crafted their sound by the time they have hit that level.

At a wider scale I agree with him that anyone can make music and get listeners, but for big acts I think it's much more noticeable and the ones that don't make that unique sound have trouble sticking around
