Does vinyl automatically = better sound quality? I feel like some of the records are just MP3 or whatever written to a vinyl by a company not associated with the artist/label at all and consumers cop them thinking that they're always better quality

nope
a***og by definition has inferior sound reproduction to digital media (CD, high quality MP3s, etc.) but i do enjoy listening to vinyl because I like those a***og imperfections and also they function as collectible items, it also lets an album play through smoother for me compared to a pc or phone because i’ll want to sit through it and not change the song
physical media also means that i own that copy and that it can’t get removed by streaming services
we should be supporting and preserving physical media as much as we can instead of scrutinizing it

It depends on many things. Main one being are yourecording instruments live or digital? In many cases yeah but not all

What definition and who decides what quality is better to someone's ear? Elaborate

digital is objectively superior to a***og since it is a perfect reproduction of the audio (obv lossless is the best for this)
a***og vs digital is purely subjective but i can see why both sides are good and why people prefer either
for me, it just depends on what i feel like listening to at the moment

definitely true

I'm good. Clutter and trash and speculative bubbles.

I was wondering this too.
I remember reading somewhere that the higher quality in the past was due to a higher depth of sample rate or something; something that had to be cut down on for cassettes or CDs to work.
But now that everything is made in a DAW that already starts with the lower sample rate, the difference is negligible, and possibly even the placebo effect.
Not sure if that’s true, but I could believe it

And 50% of the consumers WITH a record player have a s***ty crosley shredding their records every time they turn it on

sometimes vinyl is worse now cuz a lot of newer albums have bad quality pressings. probably cuz they know they can pump them out without people caring as much about how they actually sound
