Word I feel you on the parents working all the time part
Moving through a lot of different and mixed worlds too
Grew up in Texas too but nah I don't speak Spanish. Have a lot of friends that speak Spanish though and Spanish is a big part of some things I want to do in the future so you I'm set on learning it eventually after my native language (might start with Spanish first though because it's gonna be way easier to learn than my mother tongue for various reasons)
Oh s*** hy I grew up in north texas.
What’s your native language?? And Spanish is easy honestly esp if you’ve heard it growing up. It’s just putting the time. I need to learn a new language lol.

Austin for me
Tigrinya (I'm Eritrean)
And I appreciate you heavy for the encouragement, I get so discouraged by my pronunciation but I know that's just making sure I got all the letter pronunciations down so I don't default to English and then it's just learning words and talking to people from there

No doubt. You’ll learn some English words are interchangeable with Spanish, except in Spanish it will have an extra letter or so. Some things may be confusing but you can for sure get it down.

How fitting the cover of F&L is inspired by Domu: A Child's Dream. This album single-handedly crafted and reinforced all my interests up until this day. Even down to the god damn gradient laser type colours.
Already posted this but man I love Lu's first verse on this one so much
The bars, the flow, the delivery, the confidence, his voice
I'm terrible at remembering lyrics even ones I've heard 100s times but years and years can pass between listens and I'll still be able to get 90 percent of that verse

I saw this last week and was thinking about how you got me to run Osmium for the first time and was wondering how you would tell someone that had no familiarity with George Clinton's music where to start
Just chronologically or either Parliament or Funkadelic first of specific albums/songs and branching from there?

I would probably show them Flashlight and Give Up The Funk first and explain how they were the natural progression of the trail blazed by James Brown and Sly Stone except much more consistent and prolific than either of them. Then start them off on the first couple albums by both branches of the band. Explain how they started off alot more of an experimental, genre bending r&b group before they settled into their own brand of funk those monster hits represent.

Knew you'd come through with a great answer, thank you
Love that this brought up a through line to James Brown
Is there anything in particular you'd pull from to James Brown and Sly Stone to show that progression into what Flashlight and Give Up The Funk were doing?
And what songs/albums would you use to key showcase the more experimental side vs the funk sound the bands settled into?
My bad for all the questions and thank you again
Although he gets a overlook rep these days, Ludacris was one of the rappers that got me into Hip Hop as a kid. He had a powerful, crisp voice, comedic lines, dope wordplay, and those cornrows. Made me want to get rows on my head😭🤣. Plus, his videos were A1 and unique. I hope he gets his honors, his impact is kind of underappreciated. Without him, Hip Hop in the 2000s( specifically early to mid 2000s) would be hella different and lack the freshness, humor it needed. The man could rap his ass off as demonstrated on the song above.
