i feel like i’ve been screaming this for a minute. hiphop would’ve fully been written off this year if it wasn’t for the drake & kendrick beef. but currently if you’re TRULY a famous rapper, you’ll be fine. but the new upcoming rapper has no chance. tbh i think the 2020s is the FINAL decade for hiphop

Yeah most of the people starting now are over confident cause they seen it work so easily for others these past years. But that’s the time it stops being so easy

Oh man elliot gonna use the 10k superfan method for atlantic. Prepare to see mad distro deals with atlantic itself. They're shifting back to physical media for albums, 10k owns a manufacturing and marketing company (homemade). 10k in its first-year with trippie and 6ix9ine were in the green and afterwards even if "lower" album sales never was in the red for too long let's see how he does it on a large scale

i think the end of the corporate obsession with hip hop could be a good thing to allow for more organic s*** to thrive because if you’re good and u put ur music out there and spread you’re going to have fans. it’ll take work but it can still happen

For the people being obtuse to this reply. AS WE KNOW IT. The landscape has already entirely changed. Before we hit 2030 a lot more prominent rappers of both today and yesterday will pass, nobody is passing on the torch, Drake and Kendrick aren’t going to be around forever. Kids care nothing about artistry or legacy. A lot things from the business side just aren’t sustainable anymore in this climate where record sales aren’t bringing in the money, nobody can afford outrageous ticket prices and merch. It’s bad all around. Rap music will always be around but the climate shift is about to shift even more and not in our favor. The pendulum didn’t swing back the way we thought it would when 2020 came in.

I’ll never understand the denial of these things lol

I think the way everything is going in the world will push rap to be a better genre and more creative genre again. I’ve been saying this for a while, it feels like we are in the times before the 2010’s before everything got exciting again

Drake was the sacrificial lamb to save Hip Hop

Over blown Hiphop just regressed to being at the same level as pop and country. Those genres didn’t die when hiphop held a 50%+ hold on the market and hiphop won’t die now that it’s equally being consumed like the other genres.

If anything it may lead to more honest listeners
