The biggest problem is you can’t make anything other than the two. The mid budget film isn’t successful anymore

I’m curious as to what type of movie a mid budget movie is? Like some 90s stuff? Tarantino?

When’s the last time a normal romance film or comedy was successful. Even an historical action film like Gladiator would bomb today. Hell Michael Bay who used to be the king of the blockbuster put out a film this year and it didn’t do well. I’m sure even Nolan’s next film won’t make back its money.

I'd consider EEAAO a mid-budget movie. Mid-budget movies are 15 to 50 M's for me. 1m to 15m are well financed low budget films while anything over 50 M's is a big budget movie.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Bright (netflix), Saving Private Ryan, 1st Lord of the Rings were all in that 75-125M range. Modern blockbusters double this budget. Still, it is dumb hard to get even one million dollars together to make a movie. So, anything over 50 M's is a big budget to me.
