Not an accountant but yall think i should take the risk hiring an accountant of fiverr or see one in person?
I just saw this but please don't. Would you hire a lawyer off Fiverr?
Spend the money and hire from a legitimate firm. It will be a lot less headache down the line when you don't have IRS-CI breathing down your neck for committing tax fraud.
@op Got my first job offer as an Auditor for public accounting
Im still at the same job dam
Yeah just need a strong math background like stats/linear algebra/probability and then getting familiar with python/sql
Do python first for now and sql then do R, no need to do all at once. But tbh im not in the position to give you much advice
Good luck
Dam thats blessed, end of the day hands-on experience is everything
Look into coursera/udemy data science/stats/machine learning courses

Cost accounting was my favorite class in college but it's really a class that 50% will get right away and 50% will struggle
I think it's because it's the only undergrad accounting course that really throws a lot of numbers and formulas at you. So if you have a solid math base, you should be good

My goal is to get all of them done before the new ones roll out but the strategy I kinda decided on was
FAR --> AUD --> BEC --> REG
My thinking is that FAR will be the hardest obviously, but AUD and BEC use a lot of topics from FAR, so it'll be fresh in my mind.
I'm a little scared of taking REG last though because I'm an auditor and not involved in taxes in any way lol. But funnily enough I did better in my Tax classes than Audit so go figure
Quit big 4 last January and haven’t regretted it
F*** Deloitte, in a completely different industry now

What'd you exit into?

I mean they're all hard in their own way but looking at the curriculum for BEC it just looks like a bunch of random IT s***

Fire. I’m making moves to rotate out of IA by hopefully next year. Hopefully you get a cut of working hours now

Good luck, still in middle of studying for FAR and some of the concepts threw me in a loop, one of them with calculation of EPS. Getting very nervous even with the thought of submitting an application for testing, considering I don’t have the fastest processing speed thanks to my inattentive ADHD.

Congrats on your new role, how many years did you work in PA? Began my auditing job couple months ago, uncertain about staying in PA long-term. Work itself isn’t too difficult, just worried about my sub-par social skills and speech problems handicapping my potential to climb the corporate ladder.

100% but I’m probably switching jobs again and will be back to 60 year round if I end up in sell side research at a bank

I was there for 1.5 years, was hit with the great resignation and my entire team quit so I got some senior role responsibilities for a few months.
Try to be kind/polite, responsible, and a good listener to your seniors or co associates
Don’t overthink social interactions or feel pressured to act a certain way outside of just being a professional
Lot of the NYC office is made up Asian internationals who have a good understanding of English but strong accent/not too much American socialization
