The current AI bubble isn't very comparable to the mortgage crisis but it's basically 1:1 to the .com bubble.
You could literally look up "what caused the dot com bubble" and see what Gemini says about it, it's ironic how accurate it is to the current market in regards to AI
AI, just like the internet, isn't going away, but a lot of garbage is going to explode overnight and leave a handful of companies in its wake to basically dominate. I can see OpenAI being the new AOL
You really think AI technology will stop developing? You think these labs and research companies will just give up?
no, I said that in another comment. it's an emerging technology but the industry behind it currently is a complete ponzi scheme
What’s the point of wasting AI resources on creative outputs like music and movies? I’m sure there’s better uses they can spend time and money on for it
So that Spotify doesn’t have to pay artists
Ngl s*** not funny when they are literally tearing down schools in mostly Black cities and building AI centers on top of them. Massive data centers, which require intense energy and water, are frequently built in these communities, resulting in increased air pollution, noise, and higher electricity bills for residents.
How about Job Automation which is contributing to our current employment crisis? (Actually its literwlly affecting my work right now)
Or Racial Biases from AI?
Or how Palentir is using it to murder Palestinians?
Or like the Black community of Boxtown, TN report that 35+ unpermitted, temporary gas turbines running the facility are worsening respiratory issues, producing a constant gas-like smell, and creating hazardous noise levels. Nitrogen dioxide levels near the facility increased by 79%, with a 9% increase directly in the community. This all for xAI.
Because most is some bullshit
Some people using AI to enhance their song, like a took to work alongside with and it works very well for them
“ The artificial intelligence industry's data center boom is the latest chapter in a long history of environmental racism and resource exploitation in vulnerable Native communities, says Oglala Lakota and Northern Cheyenne activist Krystal Two Bulls, the executive director of Honor the Earth, an Indigenous-led environmental justice organization that is tracking over 100 proposed data center projects on tribal and rural lands. We speak to Two Bulls about the myriad impacts of what she calls a "modern-day iteration" of "settler colonialism," including noise pollution, cancers and respiratory illnesses, water depletion, energy grid overload and even "ecological collapse." As tech companies set their sights on Indigenous lands, Two Bulls says, "We're always the one that ends up having to sacrifice our relationship to land, air, water, our communities and our nonhuman relatives."”
pretty sure this was the intended purpose
overhype, own the land/data/money, crash the market, rebuild a new world order

No funny s*** this is exactly what the Tech Bros want.

Yeah true
Prob worse than a ponzi scheme. AI seems extremely dangerous to build for market capture rather than safety
It’s horrible what they did to Ilya
Reddit link but how are you gonna say AI hasn't progressed when two years ago it looked like utter garbage
https://www.reddit.com/r/aivideo/comments/1qi8zuv/25_years_difference_makes_you_wonder_where_ai/
It's already being used for ads literally everywhere online.
We talking bout real creativity and music.
Of course it's gonna be used for back end data stuff, run of the mill ads, weird deep fakes/memes and dumb f***s that can't write a paragraph in under a minute. Appeasing and the removal of process is the only thing it can do.
Sidenote: you know it's fake innovation when it's mostly elderly people that think it's cool lmfao. Younger Gen just use it as meme creation and to get away from doing real work
Announcements to invest =\ actual investment
many companies have done this but the amount of infrastructure being built isn’t being followed up. A lot of delays, pushbacks. In fact one of the biggest conversations right now is whether Open AI will actually make a return on its expected investments
Are you guys just young or something? Do you remember when Uber was having major pushback because they weren't profitable for like 10 years? Now look lmao, theyre a part of every day life for the majority of americans.
OpenAI's plan was to spend $1.2 TRILLION dollars in 6 years on infrastructure, do you not understand how insane that is? Even if they spend $400b, 1/3rd, do you understand how much that is? New York City spends $20b a year on infrastructure...
how did you get that from what i said?
I just don’t get what your point was then, it probably won’t matter if the bubble bursts bc it will inevitably be replaced by something more profitable, ubiquitous and predatory

You right and it is scary s***
These people running these companies don’t have peoples best interest behind them. The technology is incredible and has amazing potential to bring a lot of progress to humanity, but our current systems holding the power to it is a bad idea.

Callling it 1:1 to the .com bubble is stupid, investor markets are completely different to 20-30, or even 10 years ago. Everything is 100x more speculative now than even the .com bubble peak. Even non tech industries. This isn't changing. The markets were changed to support this. Hence why you now regularly get 10-20% movements in the market on a regular

The best available data shows only about 36% of U.S. adults had ever used a ride-hailing service like Uber or Lyft in the Pew survey cited.
The majority of Americans are not using rideshare lol.

infrastructure that does not come online until 2030 the average every day person can’t afford to pay on their already rising energy bills due to building of said infrastructure
it’s all gonna crack man lmao
Everyone that knows markets says the s*** is gunna crash but lemme believe sabrina carpenter avi lol

Idk if many people predicted AI would replace art and movies and music
But that’s where most the backlash comes from bc that’s what most people generally interact with

Do you actually seriously think the people in charge of all this s*** give a f*** about average every day people...?
I’ve noticed lot of big chain stores like will play AI music, probably to avoid paying license fees. Noticed it especially during Christmas few months ago. All this fake holiday music
How are we going to be mad at AI music when Sabrina Carpenters song Espresso is literally 3 loops from splice unchanged
We need higher quality back in general
