can i play this with no knowledge of alan wake 1

you can but it’ll be a lesser experience imo, the first game adds so much. Also it can be beaten in like 10 hours. I recommend control and it’s dlc too for the full experience.

If you really don’t wanna play them at least watch a summary or something

Best story in a horror game since Silent Hill 2.
Gameplay wise it’s good, it’s not RE4 Remake level on that front for sure, but it’s good.

Bro I tried like 3 resident demos and I hate the combat and I don't know if I should say it cause it seems like everyone loves it

It's very stiff and enemies are bullet sponges, that's a whole other thing but the combat mechanics themselves are so stiff man how do people like this

the vibes slightly different in this one, leans more surreal horror than the first but if you liked the first i don't see why you wouldn't enjoy this one, i think it's better in most regards, it still has a large focus on family too

I played RE2make and felt the same way you did. Thought the movement was too stiff, I hated that I couldn't move while aiming and I didn't understand why headshots didn't kill zombies. Abandoned it after a few hours, eventually played the OG RE4 a few years later and loved it

Tank controls is part of the appeal of the games and you just have to grow to love it Imagine zombies surrounding you and slowly shuffling towards you while you're trying to steady your aim. You can't move because you're aiming, you don't want to miss the shot and waste ammo. You constantly have to think about your position and whether you can risk being stationary while taking a shot

I highly recommend giving the series another shot. I'd start with 4. But if you're ever going to play RE2, aim for the legs instead of the head

    remedygames.com/article/remedy-and-annapurna-announce-a-strategic-cooperation-agreement

Remedy is thrilled (as thrilled as Finnish people can be) to announce that we are working together with Annapurna, who are co-financing the development of Control 2 and taking the Control and Alan Wake franchises to film, TV and beyond.

What does that mean for you, our dear fans? Above all it means Remedy is able to make Control 2 exactly the game we want it to be, while we now also have an incredible partner to extend our IPs to other mediums. We are also going to be publishing Control 2 ourselves. When I look at all the games we have in the pipeline, the future of Remedy is incredibly exciting. You can trust us to keep bringing you incredible video game experiences.

The Control 2 development team is working full steam ahead on the game. We know you are eager for news on the game (and Condor!), but you are going to have to wait a while for that.

Mikael Kasurinen, Remedy's Creative Director & Juha Vainio, Executive Producer on the Control Franchise had this to say about the agreement:

"We're super excited to get Annapurna on board! Annapurna's creative values align perfectly with ours, making them an inspiring partner for the journey ahead. We at Remedy have been working on Control 2 for a while already, it's looking amazing, and we feel Annapurna is the perfect partner to work with as the game development is moving forward towards production and eventually across the finish line."

We did manage to get a hold of Creative Director Sam Lake on his well-earned vacation from getting Alan Wake 2 done to comment the following…

"I'm absolutely thrilled (yes!) by this opportunity to expand the story of Alan Wake and our whole Remedy Connected Universe to mediums beyond games, and to build all of this in close collaboration, games, film, TV, and other mediums as well, as one unified vision. I trust Annapurna are the perfect partner for us to make this dream come true."

This is quite a unique partnership, and we're very proud to continue as an independent studio with full creative ownership of two of our most beloved franchises. We're very excited to see what we can achieve together with Annapurna and expand the Remedy Connected Universe even wider.
