I’m like suffering more often times just leads to more suffering and coping

Need to learn how to be happy with yourself and your life, not sitting around anticipating heartbreak and s*** so you can “grow” and trick yourself into thinking you’re okay lmao

What..? No this is wrong. Suffering usually leads to more understanding about the human condition. If suffering leads to more suffering for you then you are not doing any self reflection or thinking about how you can better your mistakes

He’s not wrong man. Every person should experience it once in their life because it gives you a deeper perspective.

    It’s really just inevitable

I just don’t think we should put so much focus on either suffering or pleasure as both of these things are based on perception and impermanent states that disappear with time.

I like to focus on achieving goals as these are the means to an end in life, and that’s really it. The suffering and joy that comes with those achievements are conditions of the moment brought upon by myself, but I’m not attached to either of those feelings. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.

the states are impermanent but the perspective they give you isn't!

suffering will sometimes give you the internal fuel needed to achieve these goals tbh. you think some of these legendary people on Earth would have been able to make their achievements without the understanding and pain they went throughout their lives?

It's why spoiled kids are weak compared to kids who have to get it on their own

but i agree with you. to continue to suffer is stupid

    Key word: sometimes.

My grandma dying didn’t make my dad work any harder than he already was or think any differently than he already thought. All it caused was pain. He cried, then went to work the next day. He didn’t sit there and suffer with the thoughts of “I should have spent more time with her” or “I need to spend more time with my kids” because he was still achieving goals he set out to do, whether she was alive or not. All I’m getting at lmfao

I don't mean to sound insensitive and I'm sorry for your loss but don't you think that that kind of major loss still impacts someone in a way where their perspective will change to a place where it may never have gotten to without having lost something so dear to them? Whether we want to call that stronger or more mature, usually those great losses unlock a level of empathy in us for our fellow human... idk, im just yapping, but that's the way I've always seen it

You can bypass suffering on your way to achieving heightened empathy by just gobbling some mushrooms!

ktt has this weird view that suffering makes them special

It’s many things imo… some people only know suffering so they think everyone should go thru it. I think that yes suffering will probably make you a more conscious person but some people are actually great and don’t deserve it at all imo… which is where their “consciousness” (the people that believe we should all suffer) sort of hits a wall… end of the day we all suffer

facts i get that for some ppl, hardships can be a catalyst for self improvement, but i don’t believe it’s that way for everybody. u can grow from pleasant experiences and healthy relationships as well

They do, this isn’t even something you have to force, the real problem is men need to be taught healthy coping mechanisms that don’t equate to hating and losing empathy for everything
