The adaptation is not as faithful as the japanese fanbase wouldve liked to see it

It's this and because he did an interview with the headline "I don't want to make an anime" that's gotta be the most quoted line I see in all the tweets s***ting on him lol

This is just a twitter superfan being a weirdo I think lol

A***yzing the director standing in the center as him having main character syndrome and thinking he is the main character of his work is a reach that only terminally online netizens would make

He wanted to make an anime without indulging in Moe tropes, it's not that deep, I hate otaku man

EDIT: There are also plenty of replies under that tweet questioning what the OP means calling the CSM anime a failure, saying it was fine, good, ect.

Actual main character syndrome is the rent a gf writer photoshopping Chizuru into his pictures and calling her his wife

My take is - It's acceptable to be passionate about the things you like, but at the end of the day - it's not that serious.

It's all just entertainment. And if for some reason it fell short of expectations, just accept it and move on.

I can't even imagine letting something so trivial stress me out.

Not to mention the childish and entitled attitude that many so-called fans exhibit (and this extends to all kinds of media).

Late stage capitalism, consumerism, and fandom is what runs these toxic ass Twitter threads and talking about numbers constantly. Have y'all noticed that almost every industry for media now has been ramped up and been about the numbers even more since the pandemic?

People who got too much time on their hands now constantly become involved in stan Twitter for a lot of these things and just build the personality around them.

This would only be common on lowkey sections of 4chan and tumblr. Now almost everybody and their mama wants to talk about numbers and beating another IP to death

    Like console wars

They weird, but they just a vocal minority, regular people don't care or tune in much to the numbers

Just like how rap conversations has turned into first week sales, stream stats etc. I just don't engage with these opinions because I don't care. Can't convince me that popular=good so what's the point really. D*** measuring competitions of which company can promote their product the most? Just say you like or dislike the show and why.

The only reason why CSM's low BD sales are a big deal is because its one of the most shilled anime of all time. They went all out with marketing and CSM/Mappa fanboys were talking about how it was gonna be the biggest anime of all time. There are dozens of shows each season that sell similar amounts or worse, but nobody cares because those shows didn't go out of their way to paint a target on their back. Nobody actually cares about BD sales, people are just taking the opportunity to have some fun and troll CSM fans.

so, Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid lol. i love the series, thought both seasons were phenomenal and just adore the animation and most of the characters + the wholesome, heartfelt vibes.

but then there are ppl that say it glorifies pedophilia and s***??? and i guess they mean Lucoa and Shouta, but i never got that vibe from them. i always thought it was obvious that Lucoa represents an authority figure for Shouta, and he thinks of her as like an aunt but he’s a young boy who isn’t used to being around women so awkward s*** happens sometimes.

guess i’m just saying i don’t rly know where some people are getting the idea that they’re supposed to be in a romantic relationship or something along those lines. really feels like nitpicking on a damn good show

Their relationship is lowkey weird tho
