  • I'm studying for a Business, I hate it.
I'm 3 years in I honestly might leave after this year with an ordinary degree, rather than going for the honours.

A lot of people I know don't really enjoy what they're studying in college, while some do.
Very few seem to actually dislike their course.

I guess they've all had the common sense to drop out long before now.

    I enjoy what I'm doing.

    I don't know why I'd get a degree in something I hate.

Hey OP, don't worry. You're not as stuck as it may feel. I know people who have dropped out to go back to community college for something they became passionate in.

Not everything in life has to be fun. You already 3 years in, if you disliked it enough to dropout you would’ve dropped out already. Keep strong, your work now will be rewarded later.

    Also this though, depending.

In accounting and honestly I'm 50/50 with it. I seem to enjoy taxation more, even though it was tough at first working with numbers seem to be my thing and some interesting stuff going on.

However I damn well know to stay away from Auditing, I can't understand any of this s***

I don’t get why people constantly go into college not sure or in fear about what to do. Unless you going for like a lawyer. Doctor. Accountant. Anything medical. Criminal. Or trade then you don’t need to be in the s***

    It's a solid question.
I didn't know what else to do, I wasn't going to go work construction/get a trade.
I had zero interest in just working for the sake of it in a minimum wage job.

I liked business in school, or I thought I did.
I thought a Business degree would leave me open, it'd give me options and what not..

Even my parents will admit I made the wrong choice and I've just stuck with it.
I actually dropped out and ended up going back because it was shorter and cheaper than starting over..

In retrospect I should have studied English, or maybe even something in Geography - easily my best subjects in school..
I didn't want to get an Arts degree because as everyone says - they're not employable.

I did drop out, I changed colleges and ultimately ended up back in a business degree.
This one suits me better, there's no maths, no stats, no compulsory economics modules or any of that s***..
So I find it manageable but I have no interest in it.
It's bloodsucking, I haven't opened a book, I'm just hoping to coast through for the sake of getting a degree.

I'm seriously contemplating going back to college for an English degree.
Or maybe Geography, two completely different fields of study but they were my best/favourite subjects in school.

Business and art are 2 things that you shouldn’t major in. Art school is cool if it’s just a art school in a big city. But those 2 things do not need to be something you study for 4 years. All that can be learned on the internet and through networking if your savvy with it. Listen your position is what most people are in. Lost and in fear so they go just so they won’t feel like a loser. I would I told you get a trade. Not all trades are hard labor either. And you like business right? Trades are probably the easiest way to start your own business after being in the field. I’m pretty sure you can find a decent corporate job with that business degree though so you won’t be just out here with zero options when you finish. Going to school for art and business is pretty pointless unless you’re already savvy and interesting with it. If you want you can go back and get one in English too

They tried that s*** wit me. Saw right through it. I don’t knock college because in hindsight it’s really just a big investment/loan and can be beneficial to those who have a career they want to be in. But most teens don’t find themselves at 18 so they resort to it out of fear

Yeah I mean the only issue then is - why tf am I leaving a business degree with one year to go to start back into a 3 year English degree that would land me the same job in the end.

But I'm still seriously considering it because I'd much rather go into teaching or even lecturing as opposed to a run of the mill office job.

How old are you? 21-22 right? If so finish that business degree and land a decent job with that while also going to college to get that English degree as well. This would take up your social life a s*** ton though.

Another option is just to finish that business degree at this point and find you a laid back decent paying office job. I personally wouldn’t want you to go back for another 3 years and you be about almost 30 just now getting into your field. Starting pay for most teaching/lectures aren’t the best either depending on your area
