YBN Cordae the only person who took a W out of that beef lmao
Drake has still been relevant for a decade tho?
how has Drake not paid homage to his predecessors? s***, he literally put out a song interpolating Eminem recently
Honestly the one rapper that old heads were wrong for hating on was Uzi cause he can actually rap. And the fact that he makes music that promotes dancing heavily is very traditional of old hip-hop. Dude just dresses and looks goofy sometimes.
But I mean...we did have Shock G/Digital Underground and a song called "The Humpty Dance" at one point. So maybe Uzi ain't that different after all
Look how my colours they bling, I look like an African King

He literally has a track on almost every project paying homage to at least one artist in one way or another (Practice, WuTang Forever, Teenage Fever, Static Major on Look What You’ve Done and After Dark, DMX interpolation on U With Me?) and yeah, Superman interpolation on Chicago Freestyle and Song Cry sample/video in Marcy Projects for When To Say When like
EDIT: And Ma$e verse from Mo Money, Mo Problems on Worst Behavior
EDIT: And Screw homage on November 18th on So Far Gone in 2009
I’m sure @Vietbrah could come in here and f*** you up some more if he felt like it so let’s just not do this. :word:
Sachee not gonna like this thread
Why not? @illegalnecessity
Hip-Hop to me is the o.g. Genre. Thats dead.
Rap is the base. It's immortal. All these sub genres are hot garb.
The few that still mess with Hip-Hop are the kings.

Hip-hop is the culture, rap is the music of the culture

What do you consider a real fanbase?
What do you consider a real fanbase?
People who go to shows / repeatedly listen to your album

What are tangible ways to measure this?

Used to be the culture, now it's the o.g. Genre. Niggas just rap now. It ain't the s*** they used to do in the park. That was Hip-Hop.

What are some major factors that led to this point in your opinion?
The thing is, there isn’t a balance anymore, it has swung completely left
Depends where you look I guess
