Thug is one of the only rappers I can think of that actually has the rockstar exuberance, charisma, and lifestyle.
Because rap is still seen as not legitimate enough. Despite it being the biggest genre, some people still scoff at rappers and producers just on that label alone. Which was why you got so many rappers saying “I’m not a rapper, I’m an artist”. Because of boomers.
I’m all for legitimizing the rapper label cause, it takes the same amount of skill to work FL Studio or any DAW as it takes to play an instrument like a guitar. It takes the same amount of skill to rap as it is to sing. But when people stop taking you seriously when you say you’re a rapper for years, it takes a toll and creates this whole rockstar s***
and prejudiced whites/indie cucks
That's true, but I feel like for Rappers to say that stuff, especially Black Rappers, it validates what ignorant, anti-Rap critics say about it and it makes the Genre and Culture look bad as a whole.
I think now that the rockstar wave has died down, people are putting the rap label back on themselves.
I know Wayne started the rockstar s*** but it's the post Yeezus Kanye stans that perpetuate this rockstar s*** like being a rapper isn't good enough (and of course they don't think it's good enough, they're suburbans who don't really like rap).
I wouldn't limit it to Yeezus stans (generally speaking, not just on this site), but you're right about the suburbans who don't really like rap.

Because rockstar is just a synonym for icon. And they’re living the rockstar lifestyle of touring and hedonism. Also I think it comes from rappers wanting to a appropriate the “white” culture of rockstars to anger those who consider rap or hip hop to be low art in comparison to something like The Beatles or Zepplin

Lbr they dont wanna "anger" anyone
They wanna assimilate
idk why rappers aren’t brave enough to call themselves rappers
They have to be “more then a rapper” or “no I’m an artist” or “I’m a rockstar”
That’s why I like why Chance calls himself “Chance The Rapper”. He was saying something about being proud to be a rapper and will always be that

Thug too. And to follow up on the post of this thread. Hip Hop basically the new Rock n Roll. Rock n Roll was the main s*** for almost 50 years then hip hop took over. So yea In a sense and even though we may not be literal rock music. Wayne Cudi ye uzi thug carti etc. all have punk aesthetic and carry themselves like punk acts. And just alotta rappers in general have and dress like alotta punk rock stars and look up to rock acts anyways.
Only rapper who would get that rockstar pass musically would be X tho. Some could say lil peep. But other than that. Image wise and aesthetic. Yea nigga we the new rockstars
Yep. The boomers are at it again
(This phrase needs to become a thing on ktt2 btw)
keep the word boomer outta here we ain’t Reddit
