every time @op makes a thread, i feel like i’m suffering from a stroke
Dame you mad because I make threads on this site.
And knew you just a goofie with that question lol
Remove ya goofy ass from the thread.
This is wrong
You can train an understanding of music in and of itself but not athleticism.
With that being said rappers are technically musicians albeit like most singers they usually have very limited music knowledge
How is it wrong? You can understand music in the same way you can understand a sport. You might not be good at the sport, but you can definitely understand it and perform it at an amateur level, same with music

DEE DEEZ NUTZ 😂. TALKING AND YOU MADE YOUR PROFILE NAME DEE. B**** DEEZ 🥜'S.
And knew you just a goofie with that question lol
lmao he's not, i think he's just trying to gauge how other ppl view it.
i think we're a bad sample personally bc most of us are rap fans. but he isn't asking this bc he personally feels like rappers don't count as being musicians
That was a poor example because choirs can do albums with no music
But essentially vocalist vs. being able to make a full recording
That’s fair.
are you trolling?
End of Transmission
No. Actually I'm African American. Parent are from Nigeria and Jamaica.

You saying something different here
I asked the question because I want too. If you have a problem get ya goofy ass outta the thread.
Is Rap music? Idk I'm just asking a question don't get mad at me!
You saying something different here
All I was saying with my original point was:
“Vocalist” is to “musician” as an NBA player is to “athlete”
Vocalist and NBA player = specific areas of expertise
Musician and athlete = broad terms that encompass a variety of skills and abilities

Why won’t they count as musicians? He can literally just google it and use his common sense.

Yea this is wrong athlete is purely a category term while music is a discipline even without a genre or instrument application
Lyricist or vocalist
Nah a musician since the complexity of rapping in relation to a beat is special
Without rappers/singers the instrumental would still be…music?
Without the instrumental the “song” would be spoken word
Which makes the producers the musicians, they make the music
Just my opinion though. I think the term y’all are looking for is vocalist or recording artist
I mean acapella music is a thing even if its not popular
these are the most annoying type of arguments to me
if u create music ur a musician lmao
Yea this is wrong athlete is purely a category term while music is a discipline even without a genre or instrument application
Bro what are you talking about
Musician is just a term to describe someone who composes, plays, and/or performs music. That’s what the literal term means.
Vocalists, cello players, hip-hop producers, and songwriters are all musicians in the same way that NBA players, swimmers, NASCAR drivers, and gymnasts are all athletes
Lol more like someone like Gunna No someone like Kanye West or Andre 3000 yes
kanye barely even a rapper these days he hasn’t been a musician since Graduation

You can study music independently of the sub category not the same with being an athlete and sports

Yes, and studying music without the use of performing, composing, or playing doesn’t make you a musician (music journalism / criticism)
You can also study sports without being an athlete
