    probably pretty young

there is nothing wrong with the internet, it's a massive part of the world now

I'd block social media and inappropriate stuff tho

monitor exact usage and time, get them involved with stuff besides the internet lol

When they have a drivers license. That said, it’s pretty unrealistic in todays age

  • Feb 5, 2022

No social media until like 16-18 but internet prolly younger

Its tough because my niece hasn't been allowed to have social media but she's secretly downloaded TikTok multiple times.

At that point, I'd personally rather let her have it and be able to monitor it and restrict certain content on it.

Otherwise they're just sneaking around, getting into who-knows-what, and not communicating because they're too scared of getting in trouble.

I think I started browsing as early as 6 years old and i was just browsing neopets forums and playing miniclip

Neopets was the first time my parents let me on the Internet

I was probably around 8, but our only computer was out in the living room so I was always supervised.

    yeah exactly

coming from a muslim background its pretty obvious to me that not allowing ur kids to do stuff doesnt work bc that makes them want to do it more sometimes even has a very very negative effect

    theres balance in these things

I mean, Muslims do all the destructive behaviors (drinking, d****, promiscuity, etc) less than all other groups statistically

I mean, Muslims do all the destructive behaviors (drinking, d****, promiscuity, etc) less than all other groups statistically

    yeah thats true

but just looking around me the people whose parents really tried to block them from all "the bad things" just end up doing those things secretly, thats more what i was getting at

i think we as muslims generally care more about our religion than most others (like just looking at "the average joe") and thats also because our parents cared more about teaching us because they know about the importance of it

12 or 13 with monitored supervision. Computer in the kitchen or living room.

I want my kids to be invested in tech from a young age, y’all gonna keep screens from your kids till they’re nearly adults and then wonder why they choose art for a degree

  • Feb 6, 2022

That’s a whole lotta reading so we skipping past that and just saying maybe around 10, I know there’s bad stigma in it but it’s like how the world is now. Obviously keep your eyes on what they doing but it’s like ha growin up, they finna do what they wanna do

  • Feb 6, 2022

3, my kid gonna develop and publish apps by the time he’s 7

  • Feb 6, 2022

If you raise your kids properly, they won't waste their time bs on the internet.

Show them how to use these tools, it'll empower them. Your fear will stunt their growth. I'm with you on refraining from social media though.

    This.

My intention is to raise my kids so they do not need Internet for instant gratification. Hopefully they'll find more joy in getting outside and actually being active.

Kids often take after their parents and neither my girl or I are really on social media or on our phones constantly. I just hope we can be good examples for them when it's time

  • internet with child locks, like 9 full on internet maybe at 13 or 14
