Im from Baltimore. Public schools are trash as f***.
Teachers ain’t give a f***, students ain’t give a f***, s*** was a mess. Even the ones in good areas were trash.
My parents put me in private school. That’s pretty much the only way to ensure your kid is going to get a quality education in the city

Are the private schools costly?
Not sure how it was for you but I grew up in a poor class of North & West Philly. My mom was on my ass about my school work whether if it's reports cards or parent teacher meetings. I think that's what it's all about.
If your parents care enough about your school they can transfer you to another school or make the private school sacrifice. How is a mother just finding out her son has to go back to the ninth grade after all these years?
It's still f*** America but at some point we as Black folks gotta change. Because America sure is not
Nah you’re spot on but I believe it goes hand and hand. Education is to be distributed not only in the classrooms but from your home environment. It’s sad to see both sides fail the youth because that’s how a cycle continues to manifest. Last two sentences tho man forreal
I honestly place most of it on the parent particularly in this instance
What does it say about the parents tho? Let’s not act like there isn’t an issue of parents having to work 2-3 jobs and don’t got time to see their kids let alone know what’s going on with them at school or wherever they at.
Are the private schools costly?
Yep, but my parents managed.
My mom only makes around 50k and my pops makes like 80k. Helped that my step dad is a truck driver making good money himself. my school was around 25k a year overall.

Parents, especially poor single mothers, can get grants, loans, scholarships just like they would with colleges tuition. That's how my mom paid mine. She only made about $27,000 a year at the time

25k a year? God damn thats some serious money

Damn bro, but this right here is a privilege and sacrifice fr (not saying youre privileged) this whole system sucks there’s no reason a parent has to spend 25k for their child to get a good education. There are parents out there that don’t even crack 25k in a year, I know my moms didn’t

What do u think about The Wire
Chernobyl looks better then most parts of Baltimore :(
Baltimore really needs to find a way to bring in some better jobs to help the community get stronger. Ain’t s*** for work in that city except police, banks, and liquor stores

everyone in the country has been to high school, yes its sad she had to work 2-3 jobs but its not an excuse. She know there are 4 report cards every year

He’s privileged but that’s not his fault and there’s nothing wrong with that as long as you know not everyone is provided with that same opportunity it’s only a problem if you don’t realise it
25k a year? God damn thats some serious money
Yep, even the lowest costing good private school was like 14k a year s*** is crazy.
The crazy thing about that 25k is that s*** was a drop in a bucket to a lot of the people I went to school with

Damn this forbidden knowledge, if anything they need to start letting stuff like this get known more and pushed more

Not saying he’s privilege, sayin the fact that his parents were able to make that sacrifice is a privilege in a sense like being able to walk is a privilege or just being alive is a privilege. I guess more of a blessing I would say 🙏🏽

Exactly bro, a lot of niggas from the city are born without a chance.
Whole city needs a reset. But as long as politicians and the rich folks can stuff their pockets they don’t give a f***
Man I remember one year the state gave 10m to green turtle when that funding was needed for inner city schools. They don’t give a f*** out there bro. Smh
YouTube comments are so braindead
not entirely wrong. if she looked at his report cards and saw that he was failing every class, this situation could have been resolved years ago before it got to the point where he was being held back three grades. even if she thought it was okay because he was moving up, she should have questioned why he was moving up despite barely passing any classes. but it's not entirely her fault either because if the school system wasn't deeply broken then there wouldn't be nearly 60 students doing even worse than him. both the school administrators and the parents need to be more proactive in making sure the kids aren't struggling.

Idk bro, then come the mental and physical issues that come with those jobs. Not everyone is able to keep their head straight while doing all that
