It’s because you’ve gotten complacent in your taste. Words from a very wise man: “good music takes a little bit of work.” Go find that s***!
Love rediscovering music from my teens That s*** hits man.
Late night nostalgia sessions
yeah i'm wayyyy too nostalgic myself, listening to music from my teens is the easiest way to make myself cry tbh
especially when rappers really be talking about some real s***, it hits even harder because i got used to the newschool these past years and listened more to hype s*** than s*** with substance. Revisiting that type of music now being 22 really makes it hit that much harder
This site has been good with new music in 2020. Discovered a lot I wouldn't had the chance to stumble upon on my own
Alot of the artists that big into rap these days dont love it either lol
at least the gangsta niggas from yesteryear actively cared about the genre. Thug, Baby, Gunna, you got so many artists who basically just came into this s*** cuz they knew they was gonna be hot or someone told em they would
Many of the legends we champion started rapping because for money or because someone in their hood told them they should.
Probably the producer in you. I found this out when I was listening to one of my favorite songs a few years ago and realized the drum pattern had no bounce and was random asf. I was like what the f*** that’s why this song sounds so unique the drums are just random. I then realized I was looking too much into the music and should just focus on how it makes me feel instead of studying the technical aspects of it or worrying if this song is using the same recycled sounds as others.
Mad assumptions in this thread, disappointed man. It's not a f***ing circlejerk but I listen to more diverse music than most of you probably. From Bowie to Monk to Basil Kirchin to Gang Starr to Sparklehorse to Main Ingredient.

you can't just say this just because people are not into the music being released for a moment. Like the overall quality of hiphop albums has gone down in my opinion since the streaming era and being an album person that tainted my enjoyment levels a bit. I still go back to the older albums (especially early 10s which were god tier) when i feel like it's getting too stale
I always think it's a bit weird when people say ''you didn't love hiphop te begin with'' when people criticize the newer subgenres of hiphop music tbh
I still love the newschool, cause i was hella excited about people like Juice for example who did new things, but i really honestly believe there's also just a lot of thrash being pushed down our throats by the mainstream
I feel you but that’s always been the case.
Same. I mean I got into Baby Keem & Bad Bunny last year. But you have a majority of tiktok songs Being played that’s just off putting.
Also the new “lyrics” video on YouTube are a real put off.

S*** happened to me with lofi when I used to produce it, all of a sudden the magic was gone when I realized how formulaic all of it was. Rather than focusing on the feelings it evoked.
The genre is dead because it's been taken over by vultures tho
I'm not hating on anyone. The level of skill required to make music these days has severely dropped off. That's a fact
I feel you but that’s always been the case.
niggas forgot about the ringtone era
