a year outta college I was feeling this way.
TLOP really restored the feeling though and i've been riding the wave since.
now lately it's been a bit harder to enjoy music but that's because of external forces and not because of age.
Also I just prefer listening to new stuff. Like I already know I love something like a MBDTF. I’d rather check out an old or new artist I’ve never heard before instead of playing kanye, drake, etc for the 1000x
you can't just say this just because people are not into the music being released for a moment. Like the overall quality of hiphop albums has gone down in my opinion since the streaming era and being an album person that tainted my enjoyment levels a bit. I still go back to the older albums (especially early 10s which were god tier) when i feel like it's getting too stale
I always think it's a bit weird when people say ''you didn't love hiphop te begin with'' when people criticize the newer subgenres of hiphop music tbh
I still love the newschool, cause i was hella excited about people like Juice for example who did new things, but i really honestly believe there's also just a lot of thrash being pushed down our throats by the mainstream

Bro do you produce?
When you hear music that is truly amazing you don’t need to focus of any technical elements like production, you just feel it
Whereas when you hear mid it’s easy to say it’s because the production/vocals are bland/derivative/lacking in character etc
The music I stan doesn’t suffer from the latter
I’ve been making music since 2012 when my high school had “Digital Music” class where they taught you how to use Ableton then gave you a free copy. Still listened to music for years after that.
“Cast” says a lot about how so many of you on here even engage with music
All the world’s a stage
Mainstream rap atm is garbage and I'm sticking to saying that. Sorry.

Yes. For some reason, I get this especially with Drake. Everything post ifyrt is just way too corny for my ears as I age.
truly not to make this about Drake vs ... but I agree. i think he went for new mainstream appeal after IYRTITL. I still fw him as a person tho.
You might like this if u havent heard
Same. Kelly Lee Owens and Against All Logic
I'll check those. You should look into Shallou and OTR.
Bronze Whale is really good too.

sometimes i listen to a new album and cant help but think "this is cool, i would have overplayed the F*** out of this if it dropped when i was 15"
but now im just satisfied with the music i already know and as much as i can love new s*** i feel like i'll never develop that connection again
when i was younger even albums from an artist i'd stan where i only liked like 3 or 4 tracks i'd play tf out of it until i ended up loving the whole thing and some of my fav tracks oat i didnt even like on first listen, i dont have that patience anymore
Theres some science behind this tbh

This. I remember back in like 2014/2015 rappers like Wiz Spitta, etc I was blasting their new music for DAYS.
Now I just find new stuff that sounds good but I don't really play it more than once in a while
music is way more enjoyable when you switch between genres tho
not listening to rap for a few days and then feeling the need to hear bars and 808s again

Honestly he was always at the level he is now. He was always a 8/10 artist at best who would give you a few 10/10 songs per project.
Idk. Somehow he’s simultaneously one of the best and also one of the most overrated artists out

yea same but at the same time i'd get so involved with it and learn everything about the artist and i'd feel like i knew them, im too old to do that now so it probably has an impact on the way the music hits
