Bounce out your midi. Working with audio is a lot less intensive. Also this opens doors for things that are harder to do with midi

Thank, I've been doing both those things, It seems like I could freeze tracks but that doesn't freeze the busses for them so there is still a lot going on. I may have to start freezing the busses as well if thats possible.

I was trying out a bunch of rx tools, I think I was overdoing it tho and making things seem lifeless, and maybe even harsher.

I just have been using soothe 2 now unless there is something obviously wrong in the vocals.

Yeah dseq is another plugin that does the same thing pretty well too

In mixing it’s easy to get overwhelmed with plugins selection but I’ve started to realize as time went on that you can pretty much get a decent mix started by just subtractive eq and gain staging and with plugins like these you save so much time

Try reducing the gain on the track you are recording onto by -5 to -10 db or so, it'll help u record vocals a little quieter.

(You won't be tempted to turn the gain up to match the loud instrumental)

Just make sure to turn everything back up after you are done recording so your song isn't quiet

I don't use FL, but I constantly am getting stems shifted over from the recorded track (recorded on the bounce).

    Incredibly annoying

Can you do mixing and mastering within Ableton or would I need Pro Tools to properly do it?

  • That’s actually clutch, been looking at the hardware version of it but this is a steal for free

It’ll make damn near everything distort. Search up gain staging.

Do people actually do stereo widening on 808s? I thought 808s should be mono.....
