Sad that they only teased this tho I wanted to see him get chased by a giant baby
Would have preferred this to the amount of budget used on maternity ward zombies and blowing up. One final boss fight like moment that different from the rat king family like amalgamation
like they just kind of blow the budget in final third but how they use it I dont feel the same tension as I did in the house or early sections so its kind of just burning money for me

I thought he looked awesome as a tyrant/Birkin
The shot where the car is driving between the trees getting further and further away from the camera and then gets swallowed up by the darkness.
This might the best shot horror movie I’ve seen in recent years.

Why would it have the same tension as those earlier scenes, it’s a full on freakout sequence.

its full on freak out but I am saying that full on freak out is when its at its weakest set piece wise for me. roof, sewer maternity ward and ending none of them hit the same for me. They kind of are just happenning
rooftop was the dumbest thing to show at state of play but likely a sony decision.
Original Resident evil was based on films
so my genuine question when people get into the "best video game movie discussion"
what elements does this movie have that feel exclusive to gaming
the easter eggs and saying video games out loud arent enough for me to truly qualify this as a game movie
no part of this movie was game like enough to say "okay this is a video game movie "
I don’t think
The entire structure of the movie is extremely similar to the games in the franchise. I really don’t know what y’all were expecting to make it feel more like a game other than a boss battle at the end

If we’re being honest, the weakest part of every Resident Evil game is the last act when you get to the underground Umbrella lab and then fight some big monster, so that felt true to the franchise as well
Honestly, the more I sit on it, the more I like the ending.
Bryan was REFUSING to give up, I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a character fight so desperately to hold on, man was a real one tbh.

I do like the ending it is Shadow of Colossus. The man following orders killing "monsters" discovers they were all once human. Striving to get back to his love. Only for him to turn into a monster and destory the humans. With his woman love interest likely seeing him like that on the news
Almost every Resident Evil game is:
First Act: Scared as s*** at the start, don’t know what the f*** these monsters are, have no ammo and no weapons
Second Act: More weapons and a decent amount of ammo, still trying to avoid the monsters but able to defend yourself if necessary
Third Act: Tired of seeing the monsters at this point, have enough ammo to approach them confidently, not really scared of them anymore, just focused on escaping and killing them if they get in your way
That’s pretty much how this movie plays out

me personally was hoping for boss battles throughout but once the movie started I determined that wasnt the vibe. Do I think with the given budget and if they had him learn to be a bit smarter seeing him fight boss battles throughout the movie would have added to it for me ? yes. To each their own. I like the idea of the ending even if execution a bit alll over the place. Like some of the themes present

The movie isnt messy in the third act to be like the games though. cregger is messy with all of his third acts lol
I am completely lost as to how the ending is as controversial as it is
How do you watch the entire second and third act knowing he’s been bit while genuinely believing he will receive the cure in the final moments of the film? Have you ever seen a movie before? Is this your first time being misdirected? Of course he won’t get cured. The outbreak just started 5 hours ago. Why the f\*\*\* would he get cured? Why the f\*\*\* would you rather see him get cured than become a f\*\*\*ed up Tyrant? Did you go to this movie to not have fun?? Genuinely confused how this is a consistent take I’m seeing.
This was fire. Zach’s dumbest yet out of his 3. He’s brilliant at dumb fun more than he is with the metaphors and messaging. He should do more dumb fun like this.

He's the classic RE NPC that we find files/recordings of and later kill after they transformed. Of all the criticisms I'm surprised the ending was one of them cause it was total RE

You would think the ending is a twist. It’s not. It’s made abundantly clear halfway through the movie that it should be the anticipated outcome. Abrams must’ve rizzed these audiences up that much I suppose 😳

The residents were certainly evil in this one. No more guns floating above a crib Mr Zach please

The goobers of the RE-verse are always likeable. Ethan, Luis, Ashley, Grace, Bryan
Maxine getting lopped in half immediately was the perfect f\*\*\* you to the nerds wanting that type of character
Paul Walter Houser sucks ass. He’s just not a good actor. Felt like he was doing a Bud Light commercial during his bits with Austin. Dude just doesn’t have the chops
