    I wasn’t feeling the first minute or so, but damn it won me over by the end. This goes pretty hard.

    I gave it a few spins. Pretty cool but Nilsson rarely slays me. Already had the album queued up for some marinating tho.

    I think the context of its production does add to the music. I’ve never been blown away by a full Nilsson record, but the guy had something special. It just was rarely channeled fully.

    I’m not as much of an On The Beach stan like some of you, but this is a perfect song.

    So glad he went with the uplifting Wurlitzer arrangement instead of his usual acoustic guitar version he had been playing live for a few years

    The perfect accompaniment for those lyrics

    im kinda with you can only actively listen to so many 20 minute songs per week. totally understand why punk happened.

    as a massive Yes hater even I gotta admit they nailed this tho. must've taken tremendous restraint for them to not f***ing ruin it with a bunch of fancy bullshit.

    Oh s***, this is a stunner. It honestly sounds like a Beach House song. I didn’t think they had this in them.

    in case you didnt realize one of the absolute hardest backing bands on the planet from '65-'75 were short kings

    Steve Marriot was the same height but f***ed off to form Humble Pie. Rod and Ron are only like 5'9 but look like giants;

    oh I thought you were looking at the Spotify playlist linked in op. yeah I love TVU&N but my highlights are bubbling just under the top 20. still pretty good for the year that has by far the most classic/amazing songs (440 compared to the usual 300ish)

    the rest of the top of the list;

    From what I understand this was recorded in 74 at Mike Nesmith's studio. After she died they didn’t want to throw too many bells and whistles on it, to just let her voice speak for itself. This is one of my favorites from her. Achingly beautiful. What a melody.

    laboured over that whole top 100 for months to make absolute sure it felt honest to myself

    wasn't trying to rank objectively at all cause then they would be very boring
