any other peak country jams from '74?
The two most well known Dolly songs came out
Third might have higher highs, but this is their most consistent. This is the one all those 80’s and 90’s alternative bands are looking at it. Although songs like Holocaust on Third are as proto Radiohead as some of the Robert Wyatt stuff.
Thom says it was Neil that made him realize it was ok to sound the way he did, when he was obsessed with Stipe and Morrisey but upset he had a totally different register I can hear the emotional desolation of Holocaust in Thom as well though

Jolene album came out in early '74 but the single came out nearly a year before that (which is why I can't go by album release dates for singles @Fella )
Well this is the hardest I’ve ever cried to a song. It’s my grandmothers name and I just stumbled upon it at 4am. Hit me like a truck at the right moment.

Peak country jam @KNEES
got the album queued up for later, other than Love Hurts it'll be a fresh listen
also I finally got around to spinning Gene Clark's No Other, been in rotation along with Roadmaster

Brass Buttons and the opening track are probably my favorites off that album. The Love Hurts cover is one of the best renditions too. Hearts on Fire, $1000 Wedding, and In My Hour of Darkness are also all great. Even the live track with him and Emmylou getting to perform Hickory Wind together is a nice moment.

thoughts on No Other?
One of my favorite T. Rex songs. His vocal delivery on this is so good. So much texture in his voice and passion.
I thought Bill Wyman was possessed when he recorded this career highlight bass playing but it turns out it was Mick Taylor on bass right before he said f*** you guys forever and quit
Man couldn't get a songwriting credit no matter how much he helped compose all the peak they did from '70-'74
6 years later and I still havent heard another reggae album thats so rootsy it achieves transcendence for the entire runtime @beflygelt one of the best recs ive ever got tbh. its like the astral weeks of reggae.
yo lol Nicolas Jaar put this in his recs list at the end of our interview. dropping next week prob? bc of a long story most questions are actually by someone else, he only did 3 of my 12 Qs in the end :') but he was crazy generous with every single answer, def excited to share
f*** hes too real

where does The End... rank for you in Nicos albums
its good but not scaring the s*** out of me like Marble Index and Desertshore. Eno brought some some interesting dimensions to her doomscapes.

tied with Drama of Exile for last, but i dont think either are bad or anything. I f*** with Camera Obscura more than both, and obvs love her others a ton.
The End is probably the one ive listened to the least though. Ive played Drama a good bit, but i cant recall any specific tracks from The End off the top of my head.
Might give it a spin on my way home from work today tho after posting this
My favorite from Here Come The Warm Jets. Those last few minutes are heavenly.
!https://youtube.com/watch?v=58W1SmwG1AM&si=pgLsnAB3gnvoh3t5not entirely accurate because I re-added No Other and On The Beach in lossless after having already listened to them a ton... but these are my top 20 most played for this year.
those top 4 Eno are all pure
