Only if it's a comedy.
I saw House Party 4 even though I knew it was gonna be trash
why you aint make the thread "white people do you make excuses for films because it got white people in it"

The hallmark channel tells me all I need to know
I mean I like Belly. That's a bad movie but looks incredible.
I never understood why people think it’s a bad movie, always thought it was dope

Who is in your avi?
Did you just see the latest episode of Atlanta?
Yeah, I was just about to comment this, because this give the feeling that OP was watching it
I never understood why people think it’s a bad movie, always thought it was dope
Because the acting in it is terrible.
Bad movies can still be entertaining though.

Nah terrible is hyperbolic imo

It's actually right on the money but imma just let you have it til you watch the movie again then get back to me on it.
There are a lot of black movies. So yes and no. Whatever you described sounds like something I wouldn’t care about
I do go out of my way to find older black movies that aren’t part of the (white) film canon. The L.A. Rebellion film movement, for example, should be much more discussed and available for watching. I don’t necessarily feel that way just bc I’m black, but it does bring me to be more invested in the subject
You shouldn't be looking at media (movies, music, tv etc) through that lens imo
But I'm not black so
My non-black brother.. why are poking your nose in black folk business?
why you aint make the thread "white people do you make excuses for films because it got white people in it"
idk if they make excuses but large swaths of wyte ppl definitely go to movies bc they star wytes. It might be unconscious. Lots of cultural norms go unrecognized when ur the majority. Or, let’s say, recognized differently
(ik that’s way too broad but I’m feeling lazy)
That’s just to say, these are different but related conversations that are fair to have

Im latino and if someone had made the thread replacing black people with latinos i would have answered the same

I'm just f***ing with you.
This video sums up a lot of the issues with it in an entertaining way.
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwoJPe-oBjYIt's a movie you watch because it looks good and has a lot of cool scenes. But when you actually sitting down with it and paying attention to the acting and characters...it's pretty bad. There's a lot of plot holes or moments where the viewer just has to suspend their disbelief mostly because they don't really explain how certain moments happen or what the actual motives are of the characters. Nas narrating throughout is also very dry and redundant. It's an alright movie to turn on in the background with some homies, but when you to start to watch it seriously you see where it's bad.
All that being said the movie still looks incredible, there's some great shots and aesthetics throughout the movie. Much of that is owed to Hype Williams being one of the goat hip-hop/rap music video directors. He knows how to make s*** look cool. His writing however is weak. The acting is also gonna take a big hit cause you got rappers and singers carrying the bulk of the dialogue. It also doesn't help that it really seems like they just grabbed some random niggas off the street to be some of the actors. I guess it gives it some authenticity since they're making a crime/street movie, but like...yeah b just watch the movie again and you'll start to understand more.
lol
