This might seem like a stupid question because I know nothing about hair care, but I have wavy-curly hair that looks fine normally but in the winter it becomes a problem, because when I put a hat on for a long time it gets very straight in kind of bad way and gets that straight frizzy look and my hair looks goofy as f*** no matter what until I take a shower the next day. Is there a way to avoid this? It’s annoying because it gets cold as s*** sometimes but I can’t put anything on my head without my hair looking really unhealthy.
just cut my hair significantly, out of nowhere, now it look like i got a rasta bowl cut. i aint gon lie tho this s*** look fiiirreeee
I did the same in early January. Cut my shoulder length dreads because I was sick of it affecting my peripheral vision, not all of it would be covered by shower caps and cleaning/drying it properly was getting tough. Been in love with the way I look since I had it done
Need shampoo and moisturizing recommendations on dreads though. I feel like the shampoo I use now creates build up, literally all my dreads had like lint and crust in them and I would scratch them out when I was bored. Disgusted me to think that s*** is all over my head
My loctician recommended I use dishwashing liquid to get rid of buildup, it worked but I feel like its too stripping and dries my hair. I need to moisturize my hair after but Idk what to use. This also isn't ideal to use for every wash, I think I'll only use it like every 4 months. Dr Bronners comes recommended but only one place in my country has it, they're sold out. If you've had dreads, do you just water rinse it instead of using shampoo every wash? I've always used shampoo but I only wash my hair every 5-7 days

Do an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse. You have to dilute it with water though.

Was going to mention in my post, but I have used ACV before. I think it's similar to the dishwashing liquid, gets rid of build up but can't be used too often. Also not a fan of my hair smelling like vinegar
To my dreadheads itt, how y'all keep your dreads from looking like s*** aftr you wash em.

idk what looking like s*** is meant to imply but if you mean frizz and loose hair understand that this is a natural, healthy part of the hair texture you were blessed with and the hairstyle you chose

Cutting my hair down to this
I’m gonna be the only senior citizen rocking waves

gettin waves is too much work. Imma just cut it down, and grow it out into an afro again.
The hair sponge doesn't work for me. I've tried different brands, different sized holes, none of them work. My hair just looks messy as f***. I even let my barber try it with his sponge (that works for basically every one else) and it still didn't turn out right. I'm torn between cutting it all of and trying to get waves or letting it grow for 6 more months and getting locs

do you know your hair type? feel like a 3c/4a is the minimum needed to properly start locs naturally

I'm 100% certain that it's 4c. It is very coarse, naturally curly, and always shrinks

Won't get rid of the buildup but it helps to prevent it. Also get a satin cover for your hair for whenever you lay down/sleep.
i dont wanna put expo marker on my hair but Im thinking about doing something like this since the edge of my hairline are faded

thats weird we have the same hair type and my hair didnt start becoming more noticably locced up till the 7th/8th month mark (didnt use a sponge). You just need to keep it very dry with minimal product. the freeform locking process can take a while so it varies. I would try to give it a year till and if you dont noticing ur hair locking up cut it.

I don't usually allow my hair to dry out too much, maybe that's the difference. I always use DAX Pomade, Cantu, or a leave-in conditioner to keep it hydrated. And I wash it once per week.
I think I'm going to wait a bit longer and then get it twisted. I'll leave it like that until it eventually locks
I’ll give it to the whites, this is a dope cut. I wish I could do this to my hair
I need a new moisturizer/hair cream. I feel like the one I’m using is making my hair fall out
I was using a leave-in conditioner but honestly think it’s the reason my hair is just thinning all of a sudden. Every time I get out the shower all these hair follicles will be left behind
