I'm freeforming and something I'm dealing with (and have dealt with in the past) is dreads that are loose like there will be hair that's dreaded up by hanging beyond the rest of my hair by one or two strands. Does that happen to anyone else/has anyone heard of it/have suggestions?
Wrap my head with a satin scarf at night (can't do it right so I'm always on Babushka ) + satin pillowcase, apply water with an applicator every other day + some jojoba oil lightly rubbed in (deal with a lot of dryness), try not to lay down unless I'm going to sleep (haven't definitely f***ed in how parts of my hair dread up in the past because I was ill and stuck in bed/on the couch)
I know I gotta clean it up a bit but that's gonna have to wait
You’re talking about the hanging tips/ends “balls” right? I use to get them when I first started out when my hair was still in Afro phase and would cut them sometimes because someone told me they were “dead ends” but I eventually realized they’re just a natural part of our hair type. You can cut them if you want but once I stopped doing it I noticed the tips would eventually connect to the rest of the dread but it took awhile (and in some cases the tips were really thin compared to the rest of the dread so I cut them.
I still get them usually at the top of my of my head but it usually means a new dread is trying to form there

The little balls used to worry me a lot too so it's good to hear this even know but what I'm talking about is one or two strands of hair that are connected/dreading into something much heavier/larger so it noticeably hangs compared to the rest of the hair
See when you recommended using Extra virgin olive oil is there any special product you suggest getting for fighting dandruff? i got kinky hair

Is this pure freeform. Like did you start from a low cut and just never touched it

Yeah, besides maintenance stuff (applying water and oils/washing/wrapping in a satin scarf at night)
Why do you ask?

do you mean alternatives to olive oil ?
i suggest creme of nature argan oil and shea moisture leave in conditioner
to combat against that you should do scalp massages with argon oil once or twice a week after you wash your hair
daily moisturizing conditioners will also help prevent that

Cause I have some questions for people that naturally freeform

Ok so I havent combed my hair in like 3 months and I assume this would freeform my hair but I have the habit of playing with it. Like some strands of my hair could be tied together and I just put my hand inbetween the tied strands and separate them. So does this affect the process
My hair grows mad slow so this is like a year and 6/7 months of freeforming
I think I have 4c hair. I chopped my hair off completely back in February/Early March last year
Edit: Just saw your recent picture, it's looking good bro
This hard fam. How's it looking now?

It definitely does, this is something I struggle with all the time but you should try to do that as little as possible

Yeah I see it as literally finger combing my hair. So if I'm not meant to touch the hair how the hell am I supposed to wash it with shampoo

I mean washing it is all good + the moisture helps on that front but at least for me I always want to be touching my hair and that + dryness has done a number on my hair in the past

Since my barbershop is closed. I've been growing out my hair and i'm thinking about getting killmonger braids.
Did fades come from black folks?
Unsure. It was popular in the 40s US military
Flat top goes back to Egypt

Damn that fade is clean, only asking because every barber i’ve been to is hit or miss with the fades. I think the problem is I don’t have a black barber
