Had to fight my pops to not cut me all the way to the scalp with no regard to my hairline until he gave up around when I was 14/15 and I've always been in some stage of free form (growing out, dreaded or cut low because I damaged em) ever since and he's been hating ever since even though I love my hair when it's dreaded up and everyone else does too.

Feel like you're only thinking about that retwist because your pops is on your head and that you're rocking with letting em free form especially if that weeknd look is what you're after.

Your hair looks cool right now and black hair always ready to cook when allowed to do its thing, so I'd just let em free form from here and see what happens.

Yeah sounds like that history is what got you second guessing and if you're currently living together I'm sure he's reinforcing those feelings any chance he gets.

You might be feeling antsy/anxious as well because you want your hair on swole like that weeknd cut but it's going to take a long ass time to get there. Had to cut my hair in October because I hadn't taken care of it properly and am currently ill and can't do much for it now so low is best at the moment but I HATE when my hair short and it's just starting to dread up a little bit and I just gotta remind myself to be patient especially since I can't take care of it the way I need to which is going to slow it down even more.

If you've always wanted locs, like your hair long and can't braid your own hair free form literally sounds perfect for you.

Have no idea what to do with my hair right now with its length (3 inches) so I'm just letting it grow but this is the dream
